  • Eli Manning makes his first start since Week 2 when the New York Giants visit Philadelphia on Monday night
  • Manning has tossed for more yardage against the Eagles than any other team during his 15-year NFL career
  • The Eagles are coming off a high-scoring 38-31 loss in Miami, but have averaged fewer than 16 points over their past three home games

The Philadelphia Eagles will face a familiar foe when they play host to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football as 9.5-point favorites in Week 14. Quarterback Eli Manning returns under center in place of injured rookie Daniel Jones.

Manning leads a Giants squad mired in an eight-game  losing streak, but will have an array of offensive weapons at his disposal as he looks to spoil the struggling Eagles’ bid to end a three-game slide of their own. That makes the two-time Super Bowl MVP worth a look on this week’s Monday Night Football props.

Prop #1 – Eli Manning OVER/UNDER 250.5 Passing Yards

Eli Manning Passing Yards Odds
OVER 250.5 -114
UNDER 250.5 -114

Odds taken Dec. 8.

A pair of lacklustre outings to open the season led to Manning’s benching in favor of Jones.  But even under difficult circumstances over the past two seasons, the 38-year-old has managed to accumulate impressive passing yardage. In his two outings this season, against Dallas and Buffalo, Manning averaged 278 yards per game and has topped 300 yards in three of his past four starts.

Manning will have no shortage of targets on Monday night. Four of the team’s top-five leading receivers are available for Monday night’s contest, including rookie Darius Slayton, Saquon Barkley, Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate. Evan Engram has been ruled out with a foot injury.

Eli Manning’s Past 10 Starts vs Eagles

Date Home/Road Passing Yards Passing TDs
11/25/2018 Road 297 1
10/11/2018 Home 281 0
12/17/2017 Home 434 3
09/24/2017 Road 366 3
12/22/2016 Road 356 1
11/06/2016 Home 257 4
01/03/2016 Home 302 2
10/19/2015 Road 189 1
12/28/2014 Home 429 1
10/12/2014 Road 151 0

In addition, the Eagles’ pass defense is coming off an embarrassing performance in the loss to Miami, surrendering 351 yards and four touchdowns. While Manning has lost nine of his past 10 starts against the Eagles, he has still managed to be prolific at times, throwing for 297 or more yards on six occasions. In his 15-year career, he has tossed for more yardage against Philadelphia than any other team.

Pick: OVER 250.5 yards (-114)

Prop #2 – Eli Manning OVER/UNDER 1.5 TD Passes

Eli Manning Touchdown Passes Odds
OVER 1.5 +120
UNDER 1.5 -156

While the Giants are well out of playoff contention, they can severely damage Philadelphia’s playoff hopes with a win on Monday night, and boost Manning’s market value in the process. And for all the reasons to take the OVER on Manning’s passing yardage, the same consideration should be given to a wager on him tossing at least two touchdown passes. One of the highlights of Giants’ training camp was the chemistry developed between Manning and freshly signed receiver Golden Tate. However, the two have yet to take the field together in regular season action, until now.

Tate is coming off a concussion suffered two weeks against Chicago. But after spending a dismal season in Philadelphia last season, he should be highly motivated to play with Manning, and by the chance to spoil the Eagles’ party. Add to that the recent strong performance of Slayton, who has combined with Tate to make seven scoring catches over the Giants’ past three road games, and the OVER here is definitely worth a look.

Picks: OVER 1.5 (+120)

Prop #3 – Both Teams Score Over 19.5 Points?

Both Teams Score Over 19.5 Points? Odds
Yes +100
No -130

Point production has become a huge concern for the Giants during their eight-game slide. New York was simply outclassed in last weekend’s 31-13 loss to Green Bay, and has tallied 18 or fewer points in three of four outings. The Giants also tallied just 31 total points in Manning’s two starts to kick off the campaign.

However, the Giants have averaged over 20 points per game on the road this season, and have managed to keep things close away from MetLife Stadium, losing by a combined margin of just 17 points over their past three. New York has also scored 19 or more points in three straight visits to Lincoln Financial Field.

Scoring has come at a premium for the Eagles in recent home dates, with the team averaging just 15.7 points per game. But that wasn’t against Chicago, New England, and Seattle. The Eagles have also topped 30 points on five occasions, and have their season on the line on Monday night against familiar divisional rivals, who will be playing for jobs.

Also of concern is the status of a banged up Eagles receiving corps, and Monday’s weather, with rain in the forecast for most of the day and evening in Philadelphia.

Picks: No (-130)
