The New York Jets kicking situation has been abysmal, to say the least. They brought in a ton of kickers in the preseason and then ended up rolling with Kaare Vedvik. After a missed extra point and field in their one-point Week 1 loss Vedvik was released, and Sam Ficken was signed earlier this week.

Now, sportsbooks have released odds on whether or not the Jets kicker will miss a field goal/extra point and whether or not Carli Lloyd will be given a tryout.

Will Jets Kicker Miss a FG or Extra Point in Week 2?

No -150

What’s The Best Bet?

Ficken won the kicking tryout the Jets held earlier this week, and will get a shot on Monday Night Football versus the Browns.

Their entire kicking problem began when they opted against bringing back Pro Bowler Jason Myers. They let him walk in free agency this past offseason and after Chandler Catanzaro retired, the Jets were in trouble.

With Ficken, he was in camp with the Green Bay Packers before being waived after the end of the preseason after losing out the battle to incumbent Mason Crosby. The former Penn State kicker has also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks. The 26-year-old is 3 of 6 on field goals and 1 of 2 on extra points in his NFL career.

Right now, given Ficken is sitting at a career 50 percent on field goals and extra points, yes is showing value.

However, I think there is a very good chance the New York Jets will not give the kicker a long field goal and decide to go for it on fourth down if the FG would end up being longer than 40 yards. It is a very close bet, but I value ‘yes’ as Ficken has shown he’s anything but automatic as an NFL kicker.

Will Jets Give Carli Lloyd A Tryout

What’s The Best Bet?

After the kicking fiasco continued into Week 1, some fans wanted the New York Jets to sign former two-time Olympic gold medalist, two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, and two-time FIFA player of the year Carli Lloyd.

Social media was buzz with demands to let her tryout for a kicker spot, and she responded and said she is serious about being a kicker – albeit in 2020.

“I am having discussions with my husband and James about the reality of playing in the NFL,” Lloyd told Fox Sports. “They both feel that I could do it and should consider it. So I’m seriously considering it, as it’s a challenge.”

However, as of right now, I highly doubt the New York Jets will bring in the soccer star for a tryout.

Pick: No (-2500)
