Meeting for the first time since Super Bowl XIV, the Kansas City Chiefs visit the San Francisco 49ers at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.

The Chiefs (4-2/2-1 road) are coming off a 24-20 loss to the visiting Buffalo Bills last Sunday. The 49ers (3-3/2-0 home) also lost, falling 28-14 to the Falcons in Atlanta.

The Chiefs rallied from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl XIV on Feb. 2, 2020 in Miami. Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns and San Francisco counterpart Jimmy Garoppolo had 219 passing yards and one TD.

Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 38-27 victory in the teams’ last regular season meeting in 2018 at home. Garoppolo sustained a season-ending knee injury in that game.

Mahomes was unflappable in rallying the Chiefs to victory over the 49ers in the Super Bowl. However, he hasn’t been as consistent this season, throwing four interceptions, including two late in games in the Chiefs’ losses to the Indianapolis Colts and Bills.

Mahomes, though, is third in the NFL with 1,736 passing yards.

The Chiefs have had at least 300 total yards in 11 straight games. The team record is 18 during the 2017-18 seasons.

The 49ers have four players with at least three sacks through six games – led by defensive end Nick Bosa’s six — for the fourth time in team history. Bosa in second in the NFL in that category to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Alex Highsmith, who has 6.5.

The 49ers have scored on just 29.2% of their drives, ranking 28^th among the league’s 32 teams.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones gave the 49ers fits in the Super Bowl when he batted down three passes. This season, he has three sacks and seven quarterback hits.

Chiefs vs 49ers Injury Report

Cornerback Trent McDuffie (hamstring), the Chiefs’ first-round draft pick this year, is expected to play for the first time since being injured in the season opener.

Cornerback Rashad Fenton (hamstring) has been ruled out. Listed as questionable are defensive end Michael Danna (calf) and guard Joe Thuney (ankle).

After sitting out last week, Bosa (groin), left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) and safety Jimmie Ward (hand) are in line to play Sunday.

Defensive tackle Arik Amstead (foot/ankle) is out. Safety Talanoa Hufanga (concussion) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (groin) are questionable.
