  • Will Chicago linebacker Khalil Mack record a sack against Oakland in London?
  • Is New England safety Devin McCourty going to pull down another interception?
  • These are among sportsbooks Week 5 NFL prop wagers

Khalil Mack appears to be of the persuasion that believes revenge to be a dish best served cold.

As far as the New England Patriots are concerned, Devin McCourty going five-for-five on interceptions wouldn’t merely be the answer to a trivia question. It would be a sensational accomplishment.

On Sunday, Mack’s Bears faces the Oakland Raiders, the team that traded away the three-time All-Pro a year ago, in London’s Hotspur Stadium. Sportsbooks are offering -200 odds that Mack will sack the quarterback at least once in this game.

As the Patriots travel to the nation’s capital, the sportsbook also offers +300 odds on McCourty intercepting a pass against Washington. He’s picked off a pass in each game so far this season for the 4-0 Patriots.

The Baltimore Ravens’ leaky defense also earns a place in sportsbooks Week 5 NFL props. Some are offering a total wager on how many yards the Baltimore defenders will surrender this week to the Steelers. The bar has been set at 400.5 yards.

Let’s take a look at each of these props and analyze the best way for you to play your wagers.

Odds Khalil Mack Records a Sack in Week 5

Outcome Odds
Yes -200
No +150

*Odds taken on 10/03/19.

The Bears and Raiders clash in jolly old England. But instead of Brexit, the topic of discussion will be Mack’s exit from Oakland.

Since Oakland traded Mack to the Bears at the start of last season, he’s recorded 18 sacks. The entire Raiders defense has accounted for 17 sacks over the same period of time.

Mack hasn’t gone through a season without hitting double digits in sacks since his rookie year with the Raiders in 2014, when he had four. He’s already collected 4.5 sacks through the first four games of 2019. Mack has averaged 12.5 sacks over the past four seasons.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden has sought to put a different spin on Oakland’s decision to trade Mack rather than pay him what he was worth. Gruden insists that the Raiders never wanted to deal Mack.

Mack is downplaying the significance of this week, describing it as just another day at the office. At the same time, Mack admitted that he liked the sound of the word “vindictiveness.”

He indicated that it was best to quell his emotional side and focus on the task at hand – winning the game. But Mack admitted that the other side of him – the ferocious beast who dominates enemy blockers – was prepared to make the Raiders pay for their decision to part ways with him.

Great players are great players because they make plays in big games. If you’re Raiders QB Derek Carr, you can anticipate at least one business meeting with Mack in the Oakland backfield, if not more.

Pick: Yes (-200)

Odds Devin McCourty Records an Interception in Week 5

Outcome Odds
Yes +300
No -500

Pick six? No, in New England, the talk is of a pick five.

September was a perfect month for free safety McCourty and the Patriots. New England went 4-0. McCourty went four-for-four during the month, intercepting a pass in every game. That earned him AFC Defensive Player of the Month honors.

Defensive captain McCourty tied the Patriots franchise record. Hall of Fame cornerback Mike Haynes intercepted passes in four successive games during the 1976 season.

Brian Russell (2013) of the Minnesota Vikings was the last NFL player to pick off passes in the first four games of a season. Russell extended his streak to six games.

The Patriots are anxious to see how far both they and McCourty can keep their perfect slates rolling.

McCourty has already equaled his interception output from the past four seasons, combined. He’s more than halfway to the career high of seven he established in 2010.

According to Pro Football Focus, McCourty has allowed one catch for one yard all season long.

McCourty will likely face a rookie QB on Sunday. Dwayne Haskins is expected to make his first NFL start for Washington after taking over mid-game in Week 4.

You don’t think that a veteran free safety might be able to disguise a coverage and fool the kid, now do you?

Pick: Yes (+300)

Over/Under Yards Allowed by Ravens Defense In Week 5

Total Odds
Over 400.5 -115
Under 400.5 -115

For years, the Ravens defense struck fear in the hearts of opponents. Today, it strikes fear in the hearts of the Baltimore fanbase.

The Ravens have surrendered over 500 yards of offense in consecutive losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns. They’ve allowed 395.5 yards per game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, this week’s opponent, are averaging 283.5 ypg on offense. They could only muster up 326 yards against the woeful Cincinnati Bengals.

The Ravens defense looked elite in the first two weeks against sub-par offenses (Miami and Arizona). Unlike most years, a sub-par offense is what the Steelers will bring to Sunday’s game.

Pick: Under 400.5 (-115)
