  • The 49ers have +1000 odds to win the Super Bowl after trading for WR Emmanuel Sanders
  • Those are the third-best Super Bowl odds, behind New England (+240) and New Orleans (+550)
  • The 49ers are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFC

The San Francisco 49ers went to Washington on Sunday and beat the Redskins in an ugly 9-0 game, remaining the NFC’s only undefeated team. Then, on Tuesday, they traded for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders. Eyes are on the future in San Francisco, and +1000 Super Bowl odds say that the 49ers could be lifting a Lombardi Trophy in February.

What Does Sanders Add?

Super Bowl odds for the 49ers sat at +1000, and they didn’t move at all after the trade for Emmanuel Sanders. Of course, that doesn’t mean this wasn’t a good trade.

Trading for a good wide receiver isn’t a big enough move for San Francisco to vault New Orleans and New England in the odds, so they remain in the same spot. They still upgraded the receiving core, and gave Garappolo a much-needed weapon.

Marquise Goodwin and Dante Pettis are nice young receivers who have the potential of blossoming into great players. This group still desperately needed a veteran presence, and Sanders is exactly that.

Can the 49ers Win it All?

What this team has been doing this season has been special. Not only are they 6-0, but they’ve gotten it done in dominant fashion. On the ground, they’re averaging 172.6 yards per game with a three-headed rushing attack.

Defensively, the 49ers have been impressive as well. This unit gives up only 133.5 passing yards per game, and they’re allowing only 10.6 points per game. They were again dominant on Sunday against the Redskins.

This team has the defense, the quarterback, the head coach, and the running game to win a Super Bowl. New Orleans is the only other team in the NFC that has fewer holes. However, if San Francisco can stay ahead of the Saints in the standings, they’ll avoid a trip to the Super Dome for the NFC Championship. It goes without saying, but a home game against the Saints is the far more preferable situation.

The path isn’t free of landmines, but right now, the 49ers road to and through the postseason is one of the cleaner ones in the conference. At +1000, there’s value in San Francisco.
