  • See odds on the Miami Dolphins going 0-16 during the 2019 NFL season and an added prop on the Cincinnati Bengals doing likewise
  • The 0-7 Dolphins are given +500 odds to finish the season winless
  • At 0-8, the Bengals are at odds of +1000 to be 0-16

The Miami Dolphins joined the AFL as an expansion team in 1966 and went 3-11. The Cincinnati Bengals joined the AFL as an expansion team in 1968 and went 3-11.

When the AFL was absorbed by the NFL in 1970, both the Bengals (AFC Central Division champions) and Dolphins (AFC Wild Card) qualified for postseason play, a franchise first for both clubs.

They’re both on pace to establish franchise firsts again this season, but not the kind of achievement that will be noted for historical purposes on the cover of next season’s yearbook.

Not for nothing, but both the Dolphins and Bengals could go 0-16 this season.

Two winless teams in the same season would also be an NFL first, not exactly how the league would like to mark its centenary celebrations.

Odds the Bengals or Dolphins Go 0-16 During 2019 Season

Team Yes Odds No Odds
Cincinnati Bengals +1000 -2500
Miami Dolphins +500 -800

Odds taken Oct. 30.

Miami’s 0-16 odds went from +200 to +500. Is the first time there’s been odds offered on a winless Bengals season.

Honestly, Who Doesn’t Want The Dolphins to Go 0-16?

Is it fair to root for failure? Maybe so in case of the Dolphins.

Every season, when the last NFL team is knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten, Mercury Morris gathers the the 17-0 Super Bowl champion 1972 Dolphins to toast their status as the NFL’s only unblemished team.

What’s never mentioned is that the 1972 Dolphins didn’t face a single playoff team during the regular season, but who are we to judge?

Wouldn’t the rest of the football world be justified in popping the cork off a bottle of bubbly and drinking to the merits of the 0-16 Dolphins?

Perversely, doesn’t everyone want to see the 0-15 Dolphins visit the 15-0 New England Patriots on Dec. 29?

That would be epic.

Which Team Will Win First – Bengals or Dolphins?

Team Odds
Cincinnati Bengals +150
Miami Dolphins -200

Three days before Christmas on Dec. 22, the Bengals visit Miami. One of them has to unwrap a win, right? Well, it’s a certainty that they both can’t lose.

Question – if they both get there 0-14, how will this game be billed?

The Zero Bowl? The Nothing Burger Bowl?

Pick: Miami Dolphins (-100).

Three Words: Jets, Jets, Jets

Both of these teams still have to get past the woebegone New York Jets without accidentally winning a game and spoiling their place in infamy.

The Bengals, who benched quarterback Andy Dalton this week in favor of rookie Ryan Finley, play host to the 1-6 Jets on Dec. 1.

The Dolphins must find a way to come in second-best twice against the Jets – at home this week and away on Dec. 8.

Losing a pair to the Jets might be harder to do than going 0-16.

What’s The Play?

Those games with the Jets and Dolphins might be Cincy’s only hope for victory.

Beyond the Jets pair and the Bengals, the Dolphins also get the 2-6 New York Giants on the road.

The Dolphins are sucking up all the oxygen in this zero sum game. Cinci is really flying under the radar in this winless race.

A bet on the Bengals might be the best move here.

Pick: Cincinnati Bengals to go 0-16 (+1000).
