The Green Bay Packers are being given their best chance this season of winning the Super Bowl. Bovada has established the Pack with a line of +500 to win the big game heading into Sunday’s NFC Conference Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that the Packers are the third betting choice among the four remaining contenders. The number next to their name is lower but the chances in the 2020 Super Bowl odds remain long.

2020 Super Bowl Odds

Team Odds at Bovada
Kansas City Chiefs +140
San Francisco 49ers +165
Green Bay Packers +500
Tennessee Titans +750

Odds taken Jan. 12

Green Bay is the most recent Super Bowl winner among the four remaining teams. The Packers won the Super Bowl in 2011.

Packers Follow Bouncing Ball

Across the leading sportsbooks, Green Bay’s Super Bowl odds have gone up and down over the last few weeks. The Pack was at average odds of +867 on Jan. 2nd. They’d dipped to +683, at the time a season low, by Jan. 6th. But the line on the Packers increased to +750 on Jan. 10th.

Green Bay started off at an opening line of +1933 to win the big game back on Feb. 5th. The Pack reached their highest point in the odds on Feb. 13th, jumping to +2300.

First Up: The 49ers

Before the Packers can talk about the Super Bowl, they must first find a path past the 49ers on the road in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game. That won’t be an easy task.

Earlier this season, Green Bay traveled to San Francisco and was embarrassed 37-8. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was held to 104 yards through the air. Running back Aaron Jones was checked on 2.9 yards per carry.

Bovada has opened with San Francisco as seven-point favorites in the NFC Championship Game. The Packers are 1-3 in their last four trips to the Bay Area to face the Niners. Green Bay is also 1-3 in its last four postseason games against the 49ers.

The Pack is 0-3 straight up and 1-2 against the spread as a road underdog in the NFC Championship Game.

They’ve Got a Super Bowl-Winning QB

Rodgers is the only QB left in the postseason who’s won a Super Bowl ring. He led the Packers to that 2011 triumph by a 31-25 count over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Normally, that should be worth something. This season, big-game experience isn’t paying dividends. Drew Brees and Tom Brady both lost their openers as home favorites.

Russell Wilson went 1-1, losing to Rodgers in the only playoff game this season to match two Super Bowl-winning QBs.

Of the other three QBs still in the hunt, Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes and Tennessee’s Ryan Tannehill are in their second playoff season. San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo is seeing his first posteason action.

Should You Package the Packers?

Green Bay is 6-0 since that lopsided loss to the 49ers. They’ve allowed more than 20 points in a game just once, and under 20 points in four of the six contests.

The Packers are 4-2 SU against 2019-20 NFL playoff teams. They’re 2-4 SU in their last six road playoff games, though.

The fact of the matter is Green Bay isn’t going to get past the 49ers. They were drubbed by a San Francisco team that wasn’t nearly as healthy as the one that will face the Packers on Sunday.

If you’re inclined to roll the dice on a longshot, the Titans are a much better option at +750.
