  • Green Bay’s unstoppable offense will get a test from New Orleans’ defense on Sunday night (8:20pm EST)
  • Last week’s picks narrowly went 1-2, losing 1.02 units
  • Read below to find out which player props offer value in the Packers vs Saints

Much to Pat McAfee’s chagrin, there isn’t a lot of punting expected when the Green Bay Packers visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday Night Football.

However, both teams come into this matchup with big name receivers injured and the Saints offense has looked out of rhythm. Perhaps the shootout forecasted in the Packers vs Saints odds will be more of a defensive struggle?

With that in mind, let’s get to the player props!

No. 2 Receivers Need To Step Up

With Michael Thomas ruled out and Davante Adams doubtful, both teams will be relying on their second and third receivers to help replace their top target’s godly levels of production. Fantasy owners of Marquez Valdes-Scantling or Allen Lazard are probably licking their lips at the idea of their guy becoming Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target.

But with no Adams to draw away coverage, Green Bay’s young receivers will have to consistently beat Marshon Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins in coverage. That’s no easy task: the Saints have allowed the fifth-fewest yards to wide receivers through two weeks. And Packers receivers are having a tough time hanging onto the ball.

For New Orleans, Emmanuel Sanders looked poised for an increase in production with no Thomas, but that has yet to materialize. Against a bad Raiders secondary, Sanders had just one catch on three targets. He’s averaging 16.5 yards per game in a Saints uniform.

Despite the total suggesting this game will be a shootout, I don’t think these receivers will have a huge hand in the offense on Sunday night. We’ll short all three of them, looking to hit on at least two.

Pick: 0.5 units on UNDER receiving yards for each Valdes-Scantling (55.5), Lazard (48.5) and Sanders (47.5)

Back These Running Backs

With no Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara took on a much bigger role in the Saints offense on Monday, racking up 175 total yards and two scores against the Raiders.

Expect a similar approach tonight. The Packers’ defense has shown little this season to shed their label of “unable to stop the run,” and Kamara should have a field day out there.

Also look for Aaron Jones to have a big night: the Packers running back will also be the team’s best receiving option if Adams is unable to go.

Pick: 1 unit on Kamara OVER 107.5 total yards (-106)

Hurray for Murray?

Last week, we picked Tyler Lockett to score first. The Seahawks received the opening kick, marched down the field and Lockett caught a TD! Unfortunately, Russell Wilson threw a pick-six in between, ruining our sweet bet. (Thanks a lot Greg Olsen!)

Still shell-shocked, I’m not playing any first TD scorer bets this week (although Jones and Kamara stand out as obvious plays).

This week I’m mostly looking for value on an anytime TD scorer. And since I’m anticipating a healthy dose of the ground game from New Orleans, I’m going to play Kamara’s backfield mate, Latavius Murray, to find the end zone. The thumping back has already gotten four carries from inside the opponents’ 10-yard line, which is well ahead of his pace for last season.

Against that porous Green Bay run defense, look for Murray to punch one in tonight.

Pick: 1 unit on Latavius Murray to score a TD (+200)
