- See below for NFL Preseason Week 3 analysis and picks
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. That’s how we should be treating the Baltimore Ravens entering Week 3 of the NFL preseason. The Ravens are currently riding a ridiculous 22-game winning streak in the preseason and will look to cap off another perfect exhibition schedule on Saturday when they face the Washington Commanders.
NFL Picks for Week 3 of Preseason
Matchup | Pick | Risk |
---|---|---|
Washington Commanders vs Baltimore Ravens | BAL -6.5 (-115) | 2 Units |
Detroit Lions vs Pittsburgh Steelers | PIT -4.5 (-110) | 1 Unit |
Odds as of August 25th at Barstool Sportsbook
Baltimore is currently a 6.5-point favorite in the NFL odds and will be looking to cover yet again without the majority of their starters. Lamar Jackson hasn’t played at all this preseason, and won’t be suiting up on Saturday either.

Commanders vs Ravens Pick
That means we’ll likely see some of Tyler Huntley, arguably one of the best backups in the league, and a lot of Anthony Brown. Both have played exceptionally under center this month, leading the Ravens to a pair of convincing victories.
Huntley has been one of the standout quarterbacks through two weeks of the preseason, completing 90.6% of his passes for 238 yards and 2 TD.

– 238 passing yards
– 2 TDs
– 0 INTs

One of those touchdowns went to rookie tight end Isaiah Likely, who earned the highest preseason receiving grade among all pass catchers in Week 2.
Huntley faced Washington last preseason and delivered a performance that put his name on the map. He completely torched the Commanders, throwing for 285 yards and 4 TD, in a 37-3 romp.
Brown meanwhile, has completed 71.4% of his passes for 206 yards and 2 TD. Baltimore has also found plenty of rushing success scampering for over 200 yards through two preseason games.

The Ravens have won 20 of their past 23 preseason games in Baltimore, and are a perfect 6-0 against the spread at home over the past five years. Under John Harbaugh, they’re 39-15 ATS in the preseason (72%), and shouldn’t see too much resistance from Washington.
That’s because the Commanders are set to deploy their starters for just a limited amount of snaps. Carson Wentz has yet to throw a TD pass this preseason, while Washington has surrendered at least 23 points in back-to-back outings.
Pick: Ravens -6.5 (2 units)
Lions vs Steelers Pick
Baltimore’s long-time rival Pittsburgh is another team with a strong recent record against the spread at home in the preseason. The Steelers are 4-1-1 ATS at home over the past three preseasons and have covered both of their exhibition games so far in 2022.
Pittsburgh will host Detroit on Sunday with the Steelers as 4.5-point favorites, with both teams expected to play most of their starters for a full half. The difference is that while the Lions will sit Jared Goff, the QB1 battle for the Steelers is still going strong.

Rookie first-rounder Kenny Pickett and former top-10 pick Mitch Trubisky have both played well this preseason, giving the Steelers a substantial advantage at the most important position in football. Pickett has completed 19 of 22 passes with 3 TD, while Trubisky is 9-of-15 with a score of his own.
Mitch Trubisky expects to start the final preseason game, but he doesn’t know how long he’ll be in — hope is for more than three series.

The Lions will showcase backups Tim Boyle and David Blough. The duo have combined to throw 13 career interceptions and just seven touchdowns, and will be hard pressed to find success against a well coached Steelers defense. Boyle and Blough have already turned the ball over three times through two weeks, with an additional Blough fumble recovered by the offense.
Pittsburgh is fresh off holding Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars to 15 points last week, while the Detroit defense has allowed at least 23 points in both of its preseason tilts.
Pick: Steelers -4.5 (1 units)
