The Baltimore Ravens enter the 2020 offseason at +800, the third-shortest odds on the board. With plenty of cap space and most of their core already secured to return, the Ravens appear to be in great shape. Let’s take a quick look back at their Super Bowl odds from last season and evaluate how their 2021 Super Bowl futures might move around this offseason.

Ravens Odds Moved Around Quite a Bit in 2019

The Baltimore Ravens odds shifted around quite a bit last year as they were a longshot for huge chunks of the calendar. We’re not likely to see that next year.

Baltimore opened up at +2733 on average following Super Bowl 54 as we weren’t really sure what to expect from them entering the offseason. They made sizeable changes on defense and handed the car keys to Lamar Jackson on offense, officially cutting ties with Joe Flacco.

As the Ravens lost pieces of their defense to free agency (Za’Darius Smith, Terrell Suggs and others), their odds climbed as high as +4100. As the season approached, few people really saw them as a serious contender. It took them a couple of months into the regular season to get going, but once they did, they were basically from +800 to +200 the rest of the way.

Considering they finished the 2019 campaign with the best regular season record, it’s not likely that we’ll see the Ravens at anywhere in the +3000 to +4000 range this offseason like we did at times last offseason.

Ravens Open Up At +800

The Baltimore Ravens’ 2021 Super Bowl odds have opened up at +800 and barring any big surprises, they’re going to hang around in this neighborhood as we progress through the offseason. Having head coach John Harbaugh back along with Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews gives the perception this team won’t fall very far – if at all.

For a second straight offseason, most of the Ravens’ biggest free agency concerns are on the defensive side of the ball. Matthew Judon is among the hottest commodities right now following his 9.5-sack campaign but he’s not the only key defender. Cornerback Jimmy Smith will be unrestricted too.

The team will also have to figure out what they’ll do with Michael Pierce, Patrick Onwuasor, Anthony Levin, Pernell McPhee, Josh Bynes and Jihad Ward. The good news Ravens have $48 million in cap space. They’re a Super Bowl contender already and they have money to spend, so they’re in pretty good shape.

Which Way Will the Lines Move?

If you like the Ravens, I’d consider betting them early. They’ll probably lose Smith, keep Judon and still have money to land one more big impact player. Someone like Amari Cooper, Emmanuel Sanders or possibly even A.J. Green would be a big splash. They feel like they’re a Super Bowl contender just a piece or two away, so they might be aggressive.

Also, since they played so well in the regular season, they might be a bit of a destination where veterans are interested to play in attempt to get a ring. That might allow them to get a key piece or two at a discount. Overall, I expect them to be around +700 or +600 by the time the season kicks off.
