- The Indianapolis Colts are 8-1 straight up in their last nine home games against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the Jaguars are 13-1-1 ATS in the last 15 games against the Colts
- It’s the first time in 12 meetings that the Cleveland Browns are favored over the New England Patriots
- See these and other unique and interesting Week 6 NFL team trends in the story below
In perhaps the wildest of the Week 6 NFL team trends, bettors really have to like the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL odds at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Then again, bettors also have to be strongly considering wagering on the Jaguars against the Colts.
Wait, what? Both of those statements can’t be true.
As a matter of fact, yes they can.
Entering Week 6, this is certainly the most bizarre of the NFL team betting trends, but it’s hardly the only one worthy of consideration prior to placing any wagers.

Jaguars vs Colts, a Tale of Two Team Trends
Three weeks ago, the Colts and Jaguars met in Jacksonville. The Jaguars, 3-point home underdogs, shut out the Colts 24-0.
It was the sixth successive ATS cover for the Jaguars against the Colts. Over the past 15 games, Jacksonville is 13-1-1 ATSÂ versus Indianapolis.
I know a lot was made about the #Colts (still) not winning at Jacksonville since 2014. On the flip side, the Jaguars haven't won at Indianapolis since 2017 (four-game losing streak at Lucas Oil).

So you’ll want to be betting the Jaguars as these two AFC South rivals meet again on Sunday, right? Against the spread, yes. Straight up? Not so much.
In the past nine meetings at Indianapolis, the Colts are holding an 8-1 SU edge over the Jaguars. Indianapolis has won the past four in a row at home over Jacksonville.
First Time Browns Favored Over Patriots
The Cleveland Browns are 3-point home favorites over the New England Patriots on Sunday. Since the Browns were reincarnated in 1999, this is their 12th game against the Patriots. It’s the first time Cleveland has been favored in that span.
Bill Belichick reached 300 head coaching wins on Oct. 27, 2019. He wore the blue jacket in the rain during the 1st half. He also earned his 227th career reg. season win to pass Curly Lambeau while wearing the gray sweatshirt back on Oct. 9, 2016. Both wins were against the Browns pic.twitter.com/GhDN96NXDS

In fact, you have to go all the way back to January 1, 1995, and the previous life of the Browns to find the last time Cleveland took the field as the chalk against New England in NFL team trends. That was in the AFC Wild Card playoffs. The Browns were also 3-point home favorites in that game and covered via a 20-13 victory. Cleveland’s coach for that triumph over the Patriots? Bill Belichick.
In the past 11 games, New England is 9-2 SU and 7-4 ATS when facing Cleveland.
Falcons Continue to Spread Success
For NFL bettors, the Atlanta Falcons are the picture of perfection. The Falcons are 5-0 in NFL picks against the spread so far this season. They’re the last NFL team left standing in 2022 with a perfect ATS slate.
NFL Team Trends: Atlanta Falcons ATS Record
Game | Spread |
---|---|
New Orleans 27 Atlanta 26 | ATL +5.5 |
LA Rams 31 Atlanta 27 | ATL +10 |
Atlanta 27 Seattle 23 | ATL +1 |
Atlanta 23 Cleveland 20 | ATL +1 |
Tampa Bay 21 Atlanta 15 | ATL +10 |
The Falcons are again heavy underdogs in the Week 6 NFL against the spread picks. Atlanta is a 6-point home underdog against the San Francisco 49ers. It’s going to be tempting to stay with this team trend and take Atlanta and the six points. But this could prove to be the ATS Waterloo for the Falcons.

San Francisco is also a stellar ATS team at 8-2 over the past 10 games. The 49ers are 4-3 ATS in the past seven meetings with the Falcons. Atlanta is also 2-4 ATS in the last six games against the 49ers as the betting underdog.
Packers Looking to Avoid New York Sweep
You have to go back to 2019 to find NFL teams that lost to both the New York Giants and New York Jets in the same season. Miami and Washington fell to each of the Big Apple’s NFL franchises that year.
The Green Bay Packers are trying to avoid doing it in successive weeks.
NFL Team Trends: Packers vs Giants & Jets in Same Season
Year | vs Giants | vs Jets |
---|---|---|
2010 | W 45-17 | W 9-0 |
2002 | W 34-25 | L 17-42 |
1985 | W 23-20 | L 3-24 |
1982 | W 27-19 | L 13-15 |
1981 | W 26-24 | L 3-28 |
1973 | W 16-14 | W 23-7 |
In the NFL public betting splits, bettors are liking the Packers to avoid being double-dipped by New York’s NFL squads. There’s 78% of handle and 77% of bets on the Packers at -340 in the moneyline. However, the Jets, 7-point road underdogs, are garnering 66% of handle and 63% of bets in public spread splits.
The #Jets open as a 7 point dog on the road vs the #Packers. I think @ProFootballHOF’er LaDainian Tomlinson (@LT_21) once had an inspirational quote for a moment just like this… 🎥 @nyjets #TakeFlight #NYJvsGB #GoPackGo pic.twitter.com/l8O7i4w8TP

Last week, the Giants won 29-22 over Green Bay as 8.5-point underdogs. The Packers have never lost to both the Jets and Giants in the same season.
This is the first time since 2015 that both the Giants (4-1) and Jets (3-2) are showing winning SU records following Week 5 of the NFL season.
