- The odds of the Minnesota Vikings winning Super Bowl 54 are steadily dropping
- From a low of +1700, the line has climbed to +2300
- The Vikings have never won the Super Bowl
Whether you’re a Minnesota Vikings fan or a Game of Thrones fan, it’s been a tough go of late for the Norse people. The GOT finale is being trolled so harshly on social media, you’d think they were assessing the latest performance of Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Winter isn’t coming any longer. It’s come and gone, and taken with it any hope of a Purple Reign in Super Bowl 54.
Across a variety of leading sportsbooks, the Super Bowl odds of the Vikings have taken a roller coaster ride. Minnesota opened at +1800. A slight improvement saw the Vikes quickly drop to +1700. But then the skid began.
Super Bowl 54 Odds
Team | Odds to win Super Bowl 54 |
---|---|
New England Patriots | +700 |
Kansas City Chiefs | +800 |
New Orleans Saints | +900 |
Los Angeles Rams | +1100 |
Cleveland Browns | +1200 |
Philadelphia Eagles | +1200 |
Indianapolis Colts | +1300 |
Chicago Bears | +1400 |
Los Angeles Chargers | +1600 |
Green Bay Packers | +1800 |
Minnesota Vikings | +2500 |
*Odds taken May 25, 2019.Â
By April 2, they were listed at +1900. Since then, things have steadily worsened, as Minnesota now lands at average odds of +2300.
Missing Cousins
The Vikings are to the quarterback position what the Philadelphia Flyers are to goaltenders. They’ve been searching everywhere for a reliable, consistent one for the better part of a quarter-century without luck.
Case Keenum brought the Vikings to within a win of going to Super Bowl 52. But the Vikes did a 180 and opted to spend $84 million on free agent Cousins to be the guy to take them to the next step.

Instead, Minnesota went 8-7-1 and missed the playoffs.
Numerically, Cousins was 10th in the NFL with 4,298 passing yards. He threw 30 TDs to 10 INTs. But the immobile QB was sacked 40 times.
That’s the thing about Cousins. He’s always been a numbers guy. But he’s 31, entering his eighth NFL season, and 0-1 in the postseason.

The Vikings have an array of offensive weapons that would make many NFL teams envious. But in Cousins, do they have the QB to run the machine?
We still don’t know that answer. Or, sadly for Vikings fans, maybe we do.
Vikings Verdict
Let’s be frank here. If you’re backing any NFC North team to win Super Bowl 54, we’ve got one question – what are you on and where can we get some?
The Vikings haven’t gone to the Big Game since Super Bowl 11. That was in 1977, by the way.

It’s been nine years since the Green Pay Packers gave the division a Super Bowl title. The NFC North owns one win in the last 22 Super Bowls, and two victories over the past 33.
If you want to roll the dice on an NFC team with long Super Bowl odds, the Seattle Seahawks (+2800) are a much wiser risk.
