  • Boston advanced to the Eastern Conference finals vs Carolina
  • The Bruins are now listed as +170 Stanley Cup favorites
  • Which of the remaining teams is the best value bet?

It’s a good time to be a Boston sports fan – if you’re not wearing green and white that is.

The Boston Bruins are on their way to the Eastern Conference finals after shutting out the Columbus Blue Jackets (3-0) on Monday to earn a 4-2 series win.

Tuukka Rask stood on his head and his boys are now taking on the Carolina Hurricanes in what should be the best round of these playoffs thus far.

In Carolina, the “Bunch of Jerks” have been riding their own wave of momentum for months, but they are sizable underdogs against the Bruins in the conference finals and actually have worse Stanley Cup odds than the Sharks, who still haven’t advanced past Colorado.

How Do the Bruins Stack Up?

Here’s a fun fact, the Boston Bruins haven’t had a losing record since the final horn of their second regular-season game on October 4th. They were blasted 7-0 in their season opener against Washington and haven’t fallen under .500 since.

Here’s another fact: led by goaltender Tuukka Rask, these Bruins have allowed a league best 27 goals through 13 games this postseason. Rask enters the third round leading all tenders with a 2.02 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.

As you can see, Rask has been next-level great with series on the line. He is a big reason why the B’s are listed where they are in the average Stanley Cup odds.

On top of that, Brad Marchand sits third in playoff points with 13, Torey Krug (8 points) is second among active Eastern Conference defensemen, and the Bruins scored a total of ten goals in three games against the Hurricanes this season.

If the Lightning were still around and playing well, there may be some reason for concern. The Bruins, though, entered the postseason as a hot commodity and have not cooled so far.

While they may appear “dented”, they surely haven’t cracked through two rounds.

Best Value Bets

Like it has been all season, the West is a total crapshoot right now. It’s game seven city with both series heading to a deciding game.

As of this very moment, your best value pick would be Carolina to take a few games. Sportsbooks will be listing game-by-game odds and that might be your best bet to find some better payouts in this series. Carolina has been hot at home with the electric crowd, but a little shaky on the road (3-3 overall in the postseason).

Your best chance to pounce will likely be between games three and four in Raleigh.
