I know I can’t be the only one that thinks Edmonton is being a little overvalued when reviewing the Ducks vs Oilers odds, and I’m more than willing to splash for an upset.

The Ducks are averaging 3.29 goals per game during this recent fun-run, and though they did just beat the lowly Calgary Flame 4-3 OT last time out, they haven’t just been padding wins against the dregs of the league.

Among the teams on their 7-game hit list include the NHL-best Avalanche and the Dallas Stars, who have the sixth-most points in the NHL.

They’ve also posted wins over the Kings (twice) and the Kraken, two teams currently jockeying for the second and final Wild Card berth in the conference.

Where they’ve really made strides is on the defensive side of the ice: the Ducks have allowed two or fewer goals in five of their seven wins, and their 1.71 goals against is a massive improvement from their regular 3.48, which ranks second-last in the NHL.

Edmonton had dropped four of its last six before last games thrilling 6-5 OT victory over the Washington Capitals, powered entirely by Evan Bouchard, who had his first career hat-trick while picking up six total points.

• Cutter Gauthier Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+122 at FanDuel)

Cutter Gauthier trails only Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid in shots on goal this season, averaging nearly four per contest.

Over the last 10 games, he’s added production to that too, scoring four goals and eight points, and has points in four consecutive games.

As he’s done in virtually every road game this month, Ducks D-man Jackson LaCombe has found his way onto the scoresheet with an assist in the win over Calgary.

He’s now picked up at least one helper in seven of eight road games so far in January, piling up eight helpers.

LaCombe had a goal and four assists against the Oilers in four games last season. Look for him to keep up this current scoring trend.
