Predators Stike Lightning
When the Lightning defeated the Predators by a 4-3 count on Saturday, it marked the first time that Nashville suffered a loss in regulation to Tampa Bay since Dec. 29, 2013, a span of 13 games.
Tampa Bay has won its past two games against Nashville, ending a four-game losing skid against the Predators. The Lightning haven’t won three in a row from the Preds since a four-game streak from 2004-08.

However, Nashville is enjoying plenty of success of late at Tampa Bay. The Predators are 4-1 there since 2017 and own a 6-3 edge since 2010.
So far, the champion Lightning are displaying no evidence of any Stanley Cup hangover. At 4-1-1 they’re tied for second in the Central Division, just two points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets. However, Tampa Bay holds three games in hand on 4-2-3 Columbus.

Bolts backup goaltender Curtis McElhinney is free from a two-week stay in COVID-19 protocol. Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper wants McElhinney to get back into game shape before he’ll see any action. Including last year’s playoffs, Andrei Vasilvevskiy has started 32 straight games in goal for the Lightning.
Nashville rallied from a 4-1 third-period deficit to nearly tie Saturday’s game. To succeed against the Lightning, the Predators need to stay out of the penalty box. The Preds have successfully killed off just 21 of 33 shorthanded situations. Their 63.6% success rate is last overall in the 31-team NHL.
Game time Monday at Amalie Arena is 7pm EST. The game is being broadcast regionally by FOX Sports Sun and FOX Sports Tennessee.
Pick: Nashville Predators (+150) – 1 unit
Close Not Counting
The Rangers are 1-2-2 in their past five games and 2-4-2 for the season. Each of their past six games have ended in one-goal outcomes. New York has lost five of those games.
Saturday’s four-goal outburst against the Penguins was the most goals scored by the Rangers since a 5-0 shutout of the New York Islanders in the second game of the season. Unfortunately, the production was offset by allowing a season-high five goals in their 5-4 overtime loss to Pittsburgh.

Sunday, the Rangers placed controversial defenseman Tony DeAngelo on waivers. DeAngelo was on the ice for four of five goals in Saturday’s loss. Published reports are suggesting that he and goaltender Alexandar Georgiev got into an altercation in the tunnel leading to the dressing room following the OT loss.
Pittsburgh has already beaten the Rangers three times this season. Overall, the Pens are 5-2 in their last seven against the Broadway Blueshirts.

Pick: Pittsburgh Penguins (-115) – 1 unit
