The Dallas Stars (6-4) aim to push the Winnipeg Jets (5-5) to the brink of elimination as the Western Conference Semifinals shift to American Airlines Center for Game 4 on Tuesday, May 13. Puck drop is set for 8:00 PM Eastern Time, with national coverage on ESPN.

Dallas enters as -155 home favorites, while the over/under is 6 goals. Can the Stars ride their momentum to a 3-1 series lead, or will the Jets even things up as +130 road underdogs? Let’s analyze the matchup and make our Stars vs Jets Game 4 prediction.

Here is our Jets vs Stars Game 4 pick for Tuesday night.

Jets vs Stars Game 4 Prediction

I’m backing the Dallas Stars team total over 3.5 goals at +115 odds. While the Jets were the NHL’s best road team in the regular season with 26 wins, they have struggled mightily away from home in the playoffs. Winnipeg is 0-4 as visitors this postseason, surrendering a whopping 22 goals in those contests (5.5 per game).

Much of the Jets’ road woes can be attributed to uncharacteristically poor play from Vezina Trophy finalist Connor Hellebuyck. The 30-year-old netminder has posted a dismal .771 save percentage and bloated 6.65 goals against average in enemy territory during these playoffs. Hellebuyck is just 1-8 in his last nine postseason road starts dating back to last year.

Meanwhile, the Stars’ offense has been clicking at American Airlines Center. Dallas has potted four or more goals in four of their last five home playoff tilts and generated an impressive 21.29 expected goals across that span. The Stars rank sixth in the NHL in team total overs this season and have already hit the over 3.5 mark in four consecutive games.

Dallas’ attack should get an additional boost from the return of star defenseman Miro Heiskanen, who is expected to suit up for the first time since January 28. Heiskanen’s elite skating and puck-moving ability will help the Stars break out of their zone cleaner and generate more offensive zone time.

The Stars’ lethal power play, humming at 30% efficiency (3rd-best), will also test Winnipeg’s pedestrian 75.8% penalty kill. If Dallas gets ample man-advantage opportunities, it bodes well for another prolific goal-scoring output.

It’s also impossible to ignore the torrid stretch from trade deadline acquisition Mikko Rantanen. The 28-year-old Finn has racked up 18 points in 10 playoff games, including three or more in five of his last six. Rantanen’s chemistry with linemates Roope Hintz and Wyatt Johnston makes the Stars’ top unit a handful for any opponent.

Add it all up, and the ingredients are in place for Dallas to fill the net again. Back the Stars team total over 3.5 at favorable +115 odds as they push the Jets to the brink.

Team Spread Moneyline Total
WPG Jets +1.5 (-200) +130 Over 6 (+100)
DAL Stars -1.5 (+165) -155 Under 6 (-120)

The Stars are currently -155 moneyline favorites, meaning a $155 wager would return $100 in profit if they win. Winnipeg is a +130 road underdog, offering a potential $130 profit on a $100 bet.

Dallas is -1.5 (+165) on the puck line, while Winnipeg is +1.5 (-200). A Stars puck line wager would cash if they win by two or more goals, while a Jets puck line bet hits if they win outright or lose by a single tally.

The game total is set at 6 goals, with the over at +100 odds and the under at -120. This means oddsmakers are expecting a relatively high-scoring affair.

Winnipeg vs Dallas Injury Report

Jets:

  • None
Winnipeg has no notable injuries to report and will have their full lineup available for Game 4.

Stars:

  • D Miro Heiskanen (knee) – Probable
Heiskanen, who hasn’t played since January 28 due to a knee injury, is expected to return to Dallas’ lineup tonight. The 24-year-old logged 25:10 of ice time per game and led Stars defensemen with 25 points in 50 regular-season contests. While he may not play his usual workload, Heiskanen’s presence provides a major boost to Dallas’ blue line and transition game.

Heiskanen’s likely return is simply massive for Dallas. His skating and puck-moving ability should help the Stars spend more time in the offensive zone and generate additional scoring chances. Even if he’s not at 100%, Heiskanen’s presence makes an already lethal Dallas attack even more dangerous.

The Stars were able to dispatch the Colorado Avalanche without Heiskanen and fellow star forward Jason Robertson, which speaks to their depth. With both players back in the fold, Dallas has to feel confident about their chances of pushing Winnipeg to the brink.
