The Oilers are listed on the puckline at +128 odds, while the Kings are -148 to keep the game within two goals. Edmonton’s -200 moneyline price gives them 64% implied probability to win.

The Oilers saw their 2022 Stanley Cup odds lengthen to +2200 after losing the opening game, while the Kings remained at +5000.

Los Angeles vs Edmonton Game 2 Odds Favor Oilers

Edmonton is heavily favored in the Kings vs Oilers Game 2 odds to even up their playoff series with Los Angeles. Jay Woodcroft’s club lost a close back-and-forth Game 1 on Monday. Phillip Danault scored a late goal to give the Kings a 4-3 victory.

Despite the loss, there were plenty of positives for Edmonton to take away from Game 1. The Oilers outshot the Kings 39-35 and got goals from both their superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. High-danger chances were also 19-15 in favor of the home team.

While the Oilers played well in Game 1, they are now 1-9 in their last 10 playoff games. The biggest concern might be goalie Mike Smith, who had a costly error on Danault’s goal and has now lost 10 consecutive postseason starts.

Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse returned to the lineup Monday after missing the past four regular-season games with an upper-body injury. The workhorse blueliner logged 20:27 of ice time in Game 1, but it’s clear he’s not at 100 percent health.

Kings Underdogs in Game 2 NHL Playoff Odds

Oddsmakers aren’t projecting Los Angeles to take a 2-0 series lead over Edmonton in the Kings vs Oilers odds. LA’s +165 moneyline price for Game 2 gives them only 36% implied probability to win.

The biggest story of Game 1 for Los Angeles was goalie Jonathan Quick, who turned back the clock with a 36-save performance. The strong play of veteran goalie is a big reason the Kings are priced at -112 in the Oilers vs Kings series odds after opening as +185 underdogs.

While Los Angeles and Edmonton now have equal odds to advance onto Round 2, the Kings aren’t projected to win a second straight game in Edmonton’s building. LA failed to shutdown the Oilers’ high-powered offense in Game 1, allowing them to score twice with the man advantage.

The Kings were without top-six forward Viktor Arvidsson in Game 1, as he suffered an undisclosed injury. There’s a chance Arvidsson could return for Game 2, which would boost the Kings’ power play that went 0-for-4 in Game 1.

Kings vs Oilers Game 2 Pick

The Oilers were arguably the better team in Game 1, but goaltending was in favor of Los Angeles. It’s unclear if Edmonton will keep riding Mike Smith or turn to Mikko Koskinen in Game 2. Koskinen is 1-2-0 all -time in the NHL postseason with a .889 save percentage.

Even though Edmonton played well in Game 1, it’s hard to ignore that they’ve now lost seven straight postseason games. If McDavid and Draisaitl had been shutdown on Monday, we wouldn’t have much confidence Edmonton can even the series up. But the two stars came to play in Game 1.

Here are some betting trends to note for Game 2 Kings vs Oilers:

  • Oilers are 16-5 in their last 21 home games
  • Oilers are 0-7 in their last 7 playoff games as a favorite
  • Kings are 1-6 in their last 7 Conference Quarterfinals games

Game 1 was ultimately a 50/50 game that could have resulted in either team winning. The Oilers took three of four regular-season meetings with Los Angeles and should bounce back Wednesday. Look for Edmonton to improve a few things defensively and even up the series with a Game 2 victory.

Pick: Oilers Moneyline (-200)
