When NHL free agency opened up the Nashville Predators signed one of the biggest names available in Matt Duchene. The forward split the season between the Ottawa Senators and Columbus Blue Jackets. The Canadian ended up going to Nashville on a seven-year $56 million dollar contract. But, they currently have Brian Boyle as a free agent and Wayne Simmonds left to sign with the New Jersey Devils.

With the moves, Nashville currently has the seventh-best 2020 Stanley Cup odds.

Are Predators Legitimate Contender?

Yes, the Nashville Predators are a legitimate contender after signing Matt Duchene. Without Duchene last year, they made it to the playoffs and finished first in the Central Division.

They still have the likes of Pekka Rinne in goal, with Ryan Ellis, Roman Josi, and Mattias Ekholm on defense, and the likes of Kyle Turris, Ryan Johansen, Filip Forsberg, and Viktor Arvidsson on forward among others.

Nashville has a very good team, and their offense will get a big boost with the Duchene signing. Their defense is their biggest strength, and if Rinne plays as he can they will have a very good chance to win the Cup come June.

Are They a Good Bet?

The Nashville Predators are absolutely a good bet at +1600. I believe as the season goes on and they have success as they did last season the odds will continue to shorten. So getting them at +1600 right now is a tremendous value.

They have a very good team and play in a division where they should finish as one of the top two teams at year’s end.

Although they may not win the Cup, I do like their chances, especially, if Rinne plays well during the playoffs, which has not been the case as of late. But, with the addition of Duchene, their offense is better and therefore should make them a better team, and a team in my opinion that can go deep in the playoffs.

Who’s the Best Bet?

I like the Predators at +1600, similar to the Colorado Avalanche at +1200. They have very good value and I’d advise putting a few dollars down early right now.

The best bet is still the Tampa Bay Lightning though, as they have a very good roster, and like the Predators, as the season goes on their odds should shrink into the +200 range, so getting them for +700 right now is a very solid bet.
