It was a Lone Star trip that garnered an important lone win, and now the Edmonton Oilers return home for Game 3 of the Western Conference Final, tied at 1-1 with the Dallas Stars.

Edmonton’s vaunted offense took a back seat to their impressive defense in Game 2, shutting out Dallas 3-0.

Can the Stars — A Top 3 scoring offense all year — find their juice again in the biggest game of the series to date? We’ve taken that into consideration as we scoured the betting lines for our NHL player prop picks and as we shaped a 3-legged same game parlay.

Puck drop is scheduled for 3pm ET at Rogers Place in Edmonton, with ABC/ESPN+ providing the broadcast coverage.

Not surprisingly, it’s Edmonton’s dynamic scoring duo that shares the highest point total and the best odds to light the lamp in Game 3.

With an assist in Game 2, Connor McDavid joined an elite group of players to rack up four straight playoff seasons with at least 20 points, a list that consists of only Sergei Fedorov, Bryan Trottier and Mike Bossy.

Teammate Loen Draisiatl also shares the scoring podium, with six goals and 14 assists.

They’re joined by Stars forward Mikko Rantanen, who’s tied for the goal-scoring lead with Florida’s Sam Bennett, though he’s on the list of the rest of the players with a points line of 0.5 for pivotal Game 3.

Of note, Ryan Nugent Hopkins has goals in back-to-back games in this series. His five goals are tied for second on the Oilers in these playoffs.

SGP ODDS at FANDUEL+651

After checking the player props, I’ve jumped over the FanDuel to put together a three-legged SGP. We’ll start with Stars forward Wyatt Johnson getting on the scoreboard for the first time this series. We wrap with Edmonton stars Leo Draistaitl’s shots on goal prop of 3+ and Connor McDavid’s 2+ points total, equalling out to +651 odds if it hits.

Stars vs Oilers Same-Game Parlay Pick #1: Johnson Anytime Goal

The 22-year-old Johnson hasn’t touched the scoresheet this series and is a minus-2 through two games. We’re not chasing any “he’s due” logic, but more so that he finds a way to deliver.

In eight career playoff series, Johnson has scored a goal in every series but one, shut out in the 2023 Western Conference Finals against Vegas in his rookie season.

And Johnson usually gets in on the action early on in the series. In five series, he’s scored a goal by at least Game 3, including in last year’s series against these same Oilers.

Dallas has been shut out three times previously in this postseason. The Stars have won all three following games, with Johnson getting goals in two of them.

Stars vs Oilers Same-Game Parlay Pick #2: Draisaitl 3+ Shots

With the 3.5 SOG prop on DraftKings, I would definitely have taken the Under for Draisaitl’s total, but hitting three shots seems to be more in range.

Draisaitl has hit at least three shots in two of the last three games, and has fired at least that number in seven games these playoffs.

The other six games where he fell short? Draisaitl had two shots in every one of those games, including Game 2’s win over the Stars.

His playoff betting trend suggests he’s going to be around that figure again.

Stars vs Oilers Same-Game Parlay Pick #3: McDavid 2+ Points

McDavid leads the playoffs with 17 assists to go along with his three goals, and he’s had six multi-point games in these playoffs, including in Game 1’s 6-3 loss to Dallas.

He now has points in seven of the last eight playoff games against the Stars, including five games where he’s had at least two points.

McDavid has also registered three straight 2+ point scoring games at home against the Stars in the playoffs.

With plenty on the line Sunday, it’s a given he’ll be prominent on the ice for the Oilers.
