The Washington Capitals will look to keep control of first place in the Metropolitan Division on Saturday when they host the Vegas Golden Knights at Capital One Arena.

The Capitals head into the matchup as the -127 favorites, but are the Golden Knights a better bet as +115 underdogs?

Here’s a closer look at the Capitals vs Golden Knights odds and stats for Saturday night, as well as the best betting options for the matchup.

Capitals’ Offense is on a Tear

Offense has been the key to success for the Capitals, who lead the NHL in goals (68) this season. Washington’s 4.00 goals per game average is tied for first in the league with the Nashville Predators.

Much of Washington’s offense has come from none other than Alex Ovechkin, who has 13 goals and sits in a tie for second in that department through 17 games this season.

The other success story for the Capitals has been the play of defenseman John Carlson, who has 26 points in 17 games and is tied with Connor McDavid for fourth in league scoring. Carlson is just four points behind league-leader David Pastrnak going into action on Saturday.

It’ll be hard to bet against the Capitals on the moneyline, as Washington is 5-0 SU over its last five games. However, the Golden Knights have been impressive on the road this season.

Golden Knights 4-4 ATS on the Road this Season

The Golden Knights are sitting in a Wild-Card position and a victory over Washington could move the club back into the Pacific Division’s top three.

Vegas is 9-5-3 with five of their wins coming on the road this season.

If you’re betting the puckline, the Golden Knights have been decent ATS on the road — going 4-4 on the season.

The better wager may be taking the Capitals (-1.5, +175) who have covered their last five games and eight of their last nine games heading into action on Saturday.

Sportsbooks have set the Over/Under for this game at 6.5. The over is an overwhelming -120 favorite, likely because 12 of Washington’s last 17 games this season have resulted in over outcomes. In fact, the Capitals have been involved in over outcomes in 10 of their last 11 games.

The last three games between the Capitals and Golden Knights have gone over as well.

Caps Have Slight Edge Head-to-Head

If you’re basing your betting decisions on head-to-head stats over the last three games, it’s been fairly close during that stretch, with Washington winning two of the three meetings.

However, in the last game between Vegas and Washington, it was the Golden Knights that skated away with a 5-3 win on the road.

This will likely be a high-scoring affair so take the over. The Capitals have showed no signs of slowing down and should come out on top with two points on home ice.

Pick: Washington Capitals (-127)
