Kraken Earn First Home Win
Seattle will be looking to make it two straight home wins when they host Minnesota on Thursday. The Kraken won their first-ever game at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday, beating Montreal 5-1. Brandon Tanev scored twice, Yanni Gourde had a goal and an assist, while Philipp Grubauer made 23 saves.

Seattle hasn’t been a very profitable team in the NHL odds, but getting their first win at home is important. The Kraken had lost four straight games before snapping the streak against Montreal. Climate Pledge Arena has an electric atmosphere, and could become one of the more hostile road environments in the NHL.
Seattle is being led on offense by former Penguins forward Jared McCann, who paces the team with three goals and seven points in seven games. Tanev has scored five goals, while Gourde has three points and leads the team with 21:57 average ice time. Goalie Philipp Grubauer owns a 2-3-0 record with a .883 save percentage.
Wild Impacted By COVID
Minnesota cancelled their practice Wednesday in Seattle due to a growing COVID issue. According to reports, two unidentified Wild players have tested positive for COVID. It was also reported earlier on Tuesday that three coaches were placed in the NHL’s COVID protocol. Minnesota is coming off a 3-2 win at Vancouver.

While it’s unclear if Minnesota will be missing any key players for the Seattle game, a COVID outbreak spells trouble. The Wild have called up forwards Kyle Rau and Connor Dewar, as well as defenseman Jon Lizotte. They will likely be without a few regulars against the Kraken, which could move the betting line in Seattle’s direction.
Minnesota is led on offense by Mats Zuccarello, who has racked up three goals and seven points in six games. Russian superstar Kirill Kaprizov has yet to score, but Joel Eriksson Ek is enjoying a breakout season with three goals and four points. Cam Talbot, meanwhile, has been solid in net with a 5-0 record and .906 save percentage.
Wild vs Kraken Pick & Prediction
Minnesota has been more impressive than Seattle this season, but the Kraken have looked great at Climate Pledge Arena. In their home opener against Vancouver, Seattle fed off the crowd energy and peppered goalie Thatcher Demko. In two games playing in front of their home fans, Seattle has outshot opponents 57-50.
Minnesota will be playing it’s fourth game in six nights, so fatigue could become an issue later in the night. The Wild have managed road wins over inferior Anaheim, Los Angeles and Vancouver teams, but they only went 14-11-3 away from Xcel Energy Center in 2020-21.
Seattle has plenty of momentum after a big win over Montreal, and they should be able to keep it going against a Minnesota team dealing with COVID concerns and potential fatigue. Take advantage of the Kraken being home underdogs and bet them to win against Minnesota on the moneyline.
Pick: Seattle Kraken Moneyline (+100)
