Oklahoma Sooners (-7, 62 o/u) at West Virginia Mountaineers
Despite winning last week over the Tennessee Volunteers, the Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) will be without star running back Keith Ford when they travel east to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers (2-1).
However, Sooners quarterback Trevor Knight, who passed for 308 yards against the Volunteers, isn’t worried.
Knight said, “I think all three of those guys are ready to step in at any time that they are called upon and do great things. You’ve seen through the first three games that all of them have the big-play threat and can run the ball effectively and do what we need to do in our offense.”
For almost any other team playing the Sooners, there would be concern. But the Mountaineers nearly upset Alabama earlier this season, which clearly has emboldened the team’s talented quarterback Clint Trickett
He said, “(The Sooners) are a great team and have a high power offense. They have a great defense as well and are returning a lot of guys. They are a traditional powerhouse. They are Oklahoma, but I said the same thing with Alabama. There is no such thing as an unbeatable team. We just have to find whatever weaknesses they have, if there are any, and try to exploit them.”
Something to remember is since West Virginia joined the Big 12 all of its games with Oklahoma have been decided by less than 10 points. That’s why taking Oklahoma’s money line may not be a popular choice but in the end it could be the winning pick, despite its -285 payout.
