The Pac-12 gets a big matchup this week when USC travels north to take on the Stanford.

After a few weeks of drama and controversy, USC head coach Steve Sarkisian will be happy the team’s focus will be on the field. The bad news is they’re facing a tough Stanford squad.

Invariably, all eyes will be on the battle between Stanford left tackle Andrus Peat and USC’s defensive end Leonard Williams. Featuring easily two of the best players at their position, this high-profile matchup will be special.

Sarkisian said, “I think they’re both two of the better players in our conference. In our conference, you have those kind of weekly matchups that way that people are intrigued by and I’m sure people will be intrigued by that one.”

Stanford coach David Shaw talked about how he is game planning for Peat.

Shaw said, “He’s a difference-maker. There’s a lot of guys that you notice and there’s some guys that you game plan around. He’s one of those that you game plan just because he can be so dominant, he can be disruptive.”

Prior to the season Sarkisian talked about restoring USC to its prior greatness. While he may be on his way, look for Stanford to remind the Trojans why the Pac-12 North is the dominant division.
