The Gunners are fresh off a disappointing result in Europa on Thursday, drawing 1-1 in the first leg of the Round of 32 against Portuguese giants Benfica. The Citizens will also have a quick turnaround, having beaten Everton 3-1 on Wednesday in another fine performance for the league-leaders.

Tough Games Ahead for Arsenal

There’s certainly been some improvement for Mikel Arteta’s side over the last couple of months, but regardless, they haven’t been consistent enough. A convincing 4-2 victory over Leeds last weekend was a step in the right direction. Pierre-Emerick Aubayemang bagged a hat-trick and it was an all-around solid team performance.

One would hope the Gunners would carry that confidence into their massive first-leg tie with Benfica on Thursday, but that wasn’t necessarily the case. The North Londoners had some threatening moments in the final third, but they failed to capitalize on clear-cut goal-scoring opportunities.

Aubameyang missed an absolute sitter which very well could have put them ahead but luckily, youngster Bukayo Saka saved them with an equalizer in the 57th minute after conceding a penalty to the Portuguese.

Arsenal does lead on away goals heading into the second leg in Greece due to COVID-19 restrictions, but it really wasn’t a great showing.

Mid-week, Arteta’s men face Benfica again. It’s going to be an exhausting stretch for Arsenal with Leicester City their next opponents on Matchday 26, but if they can somehow find a result against the Citizens, it will be a huge help in their quest in securing a European spot for next term.

City Playing Tremendous Football

You’ll be flat out to find a club in Europe that’s firing on all cylinders like Man City. Without a doubt, Pep Guardiola’s squad looks like the best team in the world right now. They’re now ten points clear at the top of the Premier League table and at this rate, there’s no one stopping them from winning the title.

City has now won 17 straight matches across all competitions and 12 in league play. During this span, their backline has conceded just six times. There were about 26 minutes in Wednesday’s meeting with Everton where it looked as they could actually drop points after Richarlison bagged an equalizer just minutes after starlet Phil Foden scored his sixth goal of the season.

But Guardiola’s side quickly put that conversation to bed after putting two past Jordan Pickford in a span of 14 minutes in the second half to secure yet another three points and extend their phenomenal unbeaten streak.

At this point, any side that had an array of hope of catching City has thrown in the towel. Jurgen Klopp has already conceded Liverpool’s title hopes, while Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the Red Devils were never seriously in the running.

Another Premier League trophy looks to be a sure thing at this point, but the next goal for City will be European glory. They’re a heavy favorite to win this year’s Champions League after exiting out in the quarterfinals of last year’s competition due to a shocking defeat against Lyon.

With Kevin de Bruyne returning from injury to play the last ten minutes at Goodison on Wednesday and Sergio Aguero also coming back to full strength, this team has all of their weapons in place. There’s little doubt that numerous trophies will be lifted by the season’s end for the Citizens.

Arsenal vs Man City Best Bet

From front to back, City has been absolutely world-class over the last few months. I personally don’t believe Arsenal is going to be the side to end their miraculous streak. They’ve also gone unbeaten in their last ten matches against the Gunners while scoring at least twice in nine of those clashes.

Manchester City scores boatloads of goals and rarely concede. Expect them to keep a clean sheet against an Arsenal attack who does have some talent, but is far too inconsistent.

Pick: Manchester City 2-0 (+650)
