Elsewhere, look for Stuttgart and Leverkusen to put on a great showing as they are two closely matched sides.

Finally, you cannot talk about the Bundesliga without mentioning Bayern Munich. The Bavarians play newly promoted Bochum this weekend, which means they will probably rotate and still easily cruise to victory.

Mainz vs Freiburg Prediction

The first highlighted game in Bundesliga Matchday 5 is between Mainz and Freiburg. Despite finishing in 12th place last season, Mainz have started their campaign on great form. The side, managed by Bo Svensson, has won three and lost one as they dropped points to their least likely opponents, the aforementioned Bochum.

Nonetheless, the 05ers have put together a couple of impressive wins over the likes of RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim. Do not think it is a fluke either, as this run of positivity stretches all the way into the end of last season.

Mainz are serious contenders European football in Germany and Freiburg should not take them lightly. If anything, Freiburg will remember the double Mainz completed on them last season, winning 4-1 across two matches in the Bundesliga.

Regardless, Freiburg is still a tough team and are only a point shy of Mainz in the table. With Lucas Holer, Jeong Woo-Yeong and Roland Sallai building up the attack, they can hurt teams in a variety of ways.

Still, because of the value and recent form, I expect Mainz to edge this one out.

Pick: Mainz moneyline (+105)

Borussia Dortmund vs Union Berlin Prediction

Next, Borussia Dortmund hosts Union Berlin on Sunday at 11:30 am EST at the Westfalenstadion in Bundesliga Matchday 5. This match seems like an easier fixture for Dortmund, but let’s be honest; the yellow-and-black have looked extremely volatile so far in the Bundesliga.

While they have only lost one match to Freiburg, their victories were all only by a margin of one goal. To be clear, the Dortmund offense is firing absolutely on all cylinders.

Erling Haaland cannot seem to slow down, already building up eight goal contributions. Meanwhile, other youngsters like Jude Bellingham and Donyell Malen also offer so much going forward. However, the Dortmund defense leaves much to be desired, already conceding nine times in the first four games.

In turn, I expect this match to feature a handful of goals.

Pick: Over 3.5 goals (+115)

Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction

Finally, Bundesliga Matchday 5 is capped off by Wolfsburg and Frankfurt at 1:30 pm EST on Sunday, at the Volkswagen Arena.

Both of these sides had a game in the midweek in the Champions League and Europa League, respectively. However, Frankfurt will, unfortunately, have one less day of rest thanks to their fifth-place finish in the Bundesliga last year, which left them in the Europa League and playing on Thursday where they drew 1-1 with Fenerbahce. Coincidentally, Wolfsburg were the team that finished just one point above them in fourth place.

Wolfsburg drew 0-0 on the road to French side Lille.

While Frankfurt have won two of their last three against Wolfsburg, the odds are stacked heavily, against them. One glaring metric is that Frankfurt have not kept Wolfsberg off the score sheet in 17 matches. With Wout Weghorst still lining up against them, expect Wolfsburg to keep that mark going.

In addition to that, the only team Frankfurt loses to in a higher percentage of matches is Bayern Munich.

Wolfsburg have been a great surprise so far in the German top-flight, and most neutrals will be curious if they can keep this phenomenal run going. For me, I think tired legs play a factor for Frankfurt, which is why I think the best bet is the Wolfsburg moneyline.

Pick: Wolfsburg moneyline (-115)
