The Case for Erling Haaland to be Top Scorer

Erling Haaland has four more goals than any other player left in the Champions League right now. He’s literally a goal machine, which is why he’s being courted by essentially every big club in Europe at the moment. However, Dortmund are faced with an extremely tough challenge in Manchester City. The Citizens have lost one game in all competitions since November 21st, and have one of the best defenses in the world thanks to newcomer Ruben Dias.

Haaland could easily add to his goal tally in this two-legged fixture. But, this conversation is more about if Dortmund have a chance to advance in the Champions League. Manchester City are playing so well at the moment, and Dortmund are the definition of inconsistency. If they do not advance, it provides a huge advantage for another player further down the table to overcome Haaland’s ten goals and become top scorer.

There are definitely some attractive names aside from Erling Haaland to become the Champions League top scorer. Bayern Munich versus PSG is a very significant match for this race, because it will automatically knock one or two of the top five picks in the table out of the competition.
