Club Brugge welcomes Real Madrid to Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday, December 11 for Matchday 6 of the 2019-20 Champions League. The one and two spots are sewn up in Group A, with Real Madrid locked into second place in the group behind Paris Saint-Germain. Brugge are third at the moment, however, and could yet drop to fourth if they fail to win against the 12-time European champions.
Elsewhere in the group, PSG host Galatasaray. The Turkish giants could leapfrog Brugge if they get a positive result in the French capital. Brugge are yet to taste victory in the group so far, but have only lost two of their five matches.

Previous Meeting
Brugge were in dreamland at half-time at the Santiago Bernabeu on Matchday 2. The Belgian side had a 2-0 lead, but unfortunately couldn’t hold on in the second half as Casemiro equalized in the 85th minute. Things have drastically improved for Los Blancos since then, however.

The draw at the Bernabeu made it four wins from nine to start the season, putting Zinedine Zidane under severe pressure. They have won seven of their 10 matches following the comeback against Brugge, putting them back in contention at the top of La Liga and comfortably securing progression in the Champions League.
Brugge can take positives from their lead in Madrid, of course, but this Real Madrid team is very different to the one they faced. They created chances to warrant their two goals at the Bernabeu, but Zidane’s side have tightened up their defense in recent weeks. Since October 1, Real have given up just 4.45 non-penalty expected goals against in La Liga.

Rotation to Aid Brugge
Only Galatasaray have scored fewer Champions League goals this season than Brugge’s three. The Belgian league leaders have failed to score in three of their five matches thus far, and rank 25 in the competition in shots per game.
With crucial matches away to Valencia and Barcelona to come for Real Madrid, however, Philippe Clement’s side could be given a lifeline. This match is meaningless for Zidane, which may see some of the fringe squad players start. It will still be an eleven capable of dominating Brugge, but it certainly helps their chances if Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Sergio Ramos are given the night off.

Low-Scoring Affair
Regardless of rotation, victory is still a huge ask for the hosts. They have been solid defensively in the Champions League, ranking 15 in the competition in opponent shots allowed. Keeping the game tight and looking to snatch a goal on the break is their best chance of victory
Under three goals could be a good bet here. Madrid have no reason to push for a victory, and Brugge will be content with a draw, knowing it’s very unlikely that Galatasaray win in Paris.
Pick: Under 3 total goalsÂ
