Denmark’s Superliga enters its final round of regular season games on Sunday with league positions for its complex playoff system more or less settled.

Soccer resumed in the Scandinavian nation last weekend following a two-and-half-month break caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

There was a surprise 1-0 defeat for the league leaders Midtjylland by ninth-placed Horsens in the first round of resumed matches.

This underlined the fact that the form book may not count for too much after such a long break and with matches being played behind closed doors.

Pick 1: Aalborg vs Aarhus

The competition splits into two after the regular season with the leading six sides then taking part in a championship playoff and the remaining eight competing in a similar system to decide relegation places.

With the top five teams already assured of their places in the championship playoff, sixth-placed Aalborg requires one point to join them when they meet third-placed Aarhus at home.

A win for seventh-placed Randers would put them level on 38 points with Aarhus – if Aarhus are defeated.

But even then, Aarhus are likely to take sixth place as they currently have a goal difference superiority of seven over Randers.

The oddsmakers make Aalborg favorites for a win at +127 with Aarhus at +192. The game is at 11 am EST on Sunday.

Aalborg returned to action with a 1-1 draw against 13th-placed Esbjerg. Aarhus were 1-0 winners against Odense.

The draw is +240 which looks good value here given that Aalborg requires only a point, although a win for the home side is tempting, too.

Aalborg returned to action with a 1-1 draw against 13th-placed Esbjerg. Aarhus were 1-0 winners against Odense.

Before the shut-down, Aalborg had won three of their previous four Superliga matches.

Aarhus had won only once in the prior four fixtures with two draws and a surprise 2-1 defeat by bottom club Silkeborg in the penultimate match before the suspension.

However, traveling to Aalborg, Aarhus have the third-best away record in the competition with six wins, two draws and four defeats.

Aalborg have been less consistent at home and have the eighth-best statistics with seven wins, two draws and three defeats.

There was a 3-0 win for Aarhus at home against Aalborg in the Superliga last September.

Pick: Draw +240

Pick 2: Horsens vs Brondby

Brondby and Horsens both won upon their return to action last week and look decent value for a draw this weekend at +240 odds.

However, ninth-placed Horsens have pulled off unexpected wins against the top two teams in their last two games and look promising for a home victory at +235 in this fixture.

Brondby, who are fourth, are +100 for a victory at 11:00 am EST on Sunday.

Horsens secured that surprise 1-0 victory away against the table-toppers Midtjylland in their first resumption date.

They had also caused a surprise in the final game before the shut-down when they were 1-0 winners on the road against second-placed FC Copenhagen.

Brondby claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win at home against 11th-placed Sonderjyske in their re-start fixture.

However, they had suffered three straight defeats in Superliga games before this remarkable turn-around in form.

Brondby claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win at home against 11th-placed Sonderjyske in their re-start fixture.

When the teams met early in the Superliga season last August at Brondby, Horsens ran out 2-1 winners.

However, Horsens home record is the 11th-worst in the league with only five wins compared to one draw and six defeats.

That said, Brondby have been in patchy form on the road with four wins, two draws and six defeats.

Pick: Horsens +235

Pick 3: Hobro vs Lyngby

Lyngby are in eighth place and Hobro are 13th so both will enter the relegation playoffs.

Despite their lowly position, Hobro were 1-0 winners away against seventh-placed Randers when play began again.

This followed two straight draws before the close-down.

By contrast, Lyngby were hammered 4-1 at home by FC Copenhagen last week – their third straight Superliga defeat.

This form makes Hobro well priced as +143 favorites for a home win at 11:00 am EST on Sunday. Lyngby are +182 with the draw at +220.

Hobro have won only once at home in this campaign. But they have been resilient at their own HQ with eight draws and only three defeats.

Lyngby have won just once on the road while drawing three times and losing eight matches.

They were 2-1 winners at home against Hobro in the Superliga last September.

Pick: Hobro +143
