Jamaica vs Brazil Prediction

Brazil have the big experience edge with Jamaica getting their nation’s first point and first win at this World Cup and this being just their second World Cup.

Brazil is in their ninth tournament, were in the Round of 16 in each of the past two and made the final in 2007. They haven’t failed to advance out of the groups since 1995.

Jamaica were not in a good run of form entering this competition as they had been on a streak of seven games without a win. Their final friendly though was a 1-0 win over Morocco.

Followed by their 0-0 draw and 1-0 win at the World Cup though, they’re now 2-2-1 in their past five.

Across their last seven matches Brazil actually has a losing record at 3-0-4. But those losses have come to a who’s who of World Cup contenders (France, England, USA, Canada). Still that means that of their three wins (Germany, China, Panama), only Germany can be seen as a true ‘good’ win. And the Germans aren’t in great form themselves.

There’s been at least two goals in 9/10 recent Brazil games. And at least three in 7/10.

These teams last met in the 2019 World Cup also in the group stage. Brazil won 3-0 behind a hat-trick from Cristiane. Brazil had 62% possession and outshot Jamaica 19-14 in shots and 7-3 in shots on target; if you want to compare recent head-to-head stats. Their only other meeting was a 5-0 Brazil win in 2007 at the Pan Am Games.

Jamaica need at least a draw to advance. A loss would mean they’d need a huge upset of Panama beating France and by a margin. Brazil needs all three points and should dominate the possession in this game and the scoring chances.

Brazil should get theirs, and Bunny Shaw coming back from suspension will give the Reggae Girlz an extra lift in their quest to advance for the first time. Let’s take the Over in our Jamaica vs Brail picks here.
