Ryan Metivier has always been a big sports fan. Whether it be playing, watching, writing about, or betting, sports have been a big part of his life. As the self-proclaimed, “hardest working average player in every sport he’s played,” he figured if he couldn’t be center stage scoring the goals and throwing the touchdowns himself, the next best thing would be to live vicariously through sport via a career in communications and media. Though winning is always the end goal, sports betting has always been about more than that for Ryan. He enjoys the whole process of doing the research, finding value and putting together the pieces of the puzzle that make up placing a bet. Ryan says betting teaches you persistence, patience, hard work, analytics, and money management.
By day, he works full-time in the communications industry. A Broadcasting grad from Seneca College and Public Relations grad from Conestoga College, he was worked as a writer and editor for various publications since, before his current role in the not-for-profit sector. Ryan is also very involved with his local Chamber of Commerce as well as several communications organizations. Though he follows many sports, he lists football and soccer as his favourites, captains a dynasty co-ed rec soccer team and has created his own annual tournament.
A word of betting advice from Ryan…? “Real wise guys don’t bet the Browns.”
Best bet placed? Seattle Sounders at 35-1 to win MLS Cup in 2016. BOOM!
