After Matchday 33 was played over the weekend, Spain will now rewind and play La Liga Matchday 31 mid-week. La Liga essentially switched the two so it wouldn’t interfere with Real Madrid’s Champions League semifinals, which is set for next Tuesday against Chelsea. It also accommodates Villarreal, who takes on Arsenal in Europa.

There are no top-six matchups for Wednesday and Thursday though, but, Madrid and Barca will be praying that Atleti could somehow drop points to Huesca. Currently, Los Blancos are three points off the league leaders, while the Catalans are five behind.

There are some interesting mid-table clashes, however, that could offer some value for bettors. Read on to find the full odds and previews.

Osasuna vs Valencia Prediction

Osasuna will be looking to continue their impressive form when they host Valencia on Wednesday in La Liga Matchday 31. Currently, in 12th place with 37 points, Jogaba Arrasate’s side has gone unbeaten in their last five games. Although just two have been wins while the three others were scoreless draws, both victories have come in back-to-back fixtures.

In fact, Osasuna has lost just four times in league play since the turn of the year. Their dreadful start to the term is a vital reason they’re still in the bottom half of the table, but there have been lots of positive performances for this club lately as they seek to finish the season strong.

For a side who is regularly in the Champions League or Europa, the 2020/21 campaign has been dreadful for Valencia. They’re in 14th spot and have collected just three wins in their last ten games.

Consecutive 2-2 draws with Betis and Sociedad however, who are both fighting for top-six finishes, could be a step in the right direction for Los Che.

Osasuna and Valencia played to a 1-1 draw in January. Considering the improved form of both sides, I don’t think you’ll see much in between them in this one.

Pick: Draw +325

Real Betis vs Athletic Bilbao Prediction

Betis are currently in sixth spot, but the full points will be the ultimate goal against Bilbao after drawing three straight matches. They’re currently just a point ahead of Sociedad, who take on Celta Vigo on La Liga Matchday 31. A slip-up here could potentially see Betis slide into seventh.

Manuel Pelligrini’s men collected a 2-2 result with Valencia over the weekend after conceding a spot-kick to the hosts in the 61st minute which ultimately allowed them to tie it up.

Europe is a far way off for Bilbao, but they can still move into the top half. Just two points separate Athletic in 11th and Granada in eighth, so a victory here would do a lot. Bilbao has drawn four consecutive domestic games while losing 4-0 to Barca in the Copa del Rey finals on Saturday.

By no surprise, these two sides tied 1-1 in February. Both are due for a win, however. Betis have been more convincing in the final third lately though and have a lot more to play for here. Go with the hosts.

Pick: Real Betis +140

Real Sociedad vs Celta Vigo Prediction

Sociedad may be heading into this La Liga Matchday 31 clash as the favorites, but they certainly aren’t playing quality football right now. Imanol Alguacil’s squad are winless in their last five appearances and frankly, the team is lucky to be in the race for a Europa League spot.

Sociedad scored an early opener against fourth-place Sevilla last weekend but then conceded two goals in a span of just two minutes, leading to a 2-1 defeat. Talisman Mikel Oyarzabal has been dead quiet in front of goal, failing to net since February 7th.

Celta Vigo has also been in dismal form, going 1-2-2 in the previous five games. They took away a point in a scoreless draw with Cadiz on Sunday and previously lost 4-3 to Sevilla on April 12th. It was a promising performance from Celta though, going toe to toe with one of the better sides in Spain.

Los Txuri-Urdin buried Celta Vigo 4-1 in their last meeting. Since 2015/16, neither side has won two straight in this clash. Based on the current trends, it’s time for Celta to collect the three points. I like how they showed against Sevilla, which should help them take advantage of a vulnerable Sociedad squad.

Pick: Celta Vigo +325
