Paris Saint-Germain could be in the mood to score freely against Lyon when Ligue1’s two most powerful teams meet in the semifinal of the Coupe de France on Wednesday.

PSG have hit the target four times in each of their last four league fixtures and also put six past Dijon in the previous round of the cup.

The oddsmakers make the Parisians favorites to win the tie at -151 with Lyon rated at +353. The draw – if level at the end of 90 minutes is +289.

They have won the trophy in four of the past five seasons but suffered a surprise defeat on penalties by Rennes in last year’s final.

Three Defeats of Ligue1 Teams

Lyon, though,  have worked hard to defeat three fellow Ligue1 teams to reach the last four.

The Coupe de France offers their only serious chance of major silverware this season, although they meet PSG in the final of the minor Coupe de La Ligue in Paris in April.

So the price of +353 on a home win on Wednesday looks a good value for an intriguing choice. Alternatively, given their recent goal-scoring exploits, PSG to win by more than one at +108 also offers value. So too does a draw at +289 at the end of 90 minutes.

Lyon last won the competition in 2012.

After their 2-0 defeat of Saint Etienne last Sunday, Lyon climbed from seventh to fifth place in the table.

With resounding familiarity, PSG are running away with the French league title race with a total of 68 points – a huge 13 ahead of second-placed Marseille.

After their 2-0 defeat of Saint Etienne last Sunday, Lyon climbed from seventh to fifth place in the table.

Following a prior 1-1 draw against Strasbourg and then a subsequent 2-0 away win at Metz, they are undefeated in three league matches.

However, PSG were 4-2 winners when they met Lyon at the Parc Des Princes on February 9.

The team from the capital were also 1-0 winners at Lyon in Ligue1 in September.

Goals Galore in Four-Game Spree

The 4-2 win against Lyon marked the beginning of a spell of prolific goal-scoring from PSG.

It was followed by a surprise 4-4 draw away at struggling Amiens.

Then came a 4-3 home won against Bordeaux followed by a 4-0 triumph away at Dijon last Saturday.

The two Coupe de France rivals have enjoyed differing fortunes in the Champions League recently.

Lyon secured a stunning 1-0 victory at home against Juventus in the first leg of their round of 16 meeting.

Before the cup meeting with Ligue 1 Dijon in the previous round, PSG had overcome three teams from outside the top flight.

But PSG suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Borussia Dortmund.

Lyon were eliminated at the semifinal stage last season when they suffered a 3-2 home defeat by Rennes.

French World Cup winning forward Kylian Mbappe scored twice in last weekend’s 4-0 defeat of Dijon to take his tally for the season to 27.

PSG last failed to reach the final in 2013-14 when they made their exit at the last 32 stage in a 2-1 home defeat by Montpellier.
