MLS Predictions for Matchday 29

Read on for our top MLS picks today for all 13 matches on Wednesday.

Atlanta United vs FC Cincinnati Prediction

The last meeting was 2-2 but that was last season. This season, Cincinnati leads the Supporters Shield race by ten points after winning 3-0 over NYCFC on the weekend. That’s the fifth time in seven games in all comps Cincy has scored three goals. It’s the ninth time in 12 games they’ve scored two or more.

Atlanta came out of the Leagues Cup break with 2-0 and 4-0 wins over Seattle and Nashville respectively. Across all comps at home in 2023 the Five Stripes have scored in all 14 games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and multiple goals in 9/14.

Both teams play to the Over this season with Atlanta being 18-8 and Cincinnati 16-9.

  • MLS Predictions: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 (-120); Bet365

Charlotte FC vs Orlando City SC Prediction

In the short history between Charlotte and Orlando the Lions won 2-1 in both games last season in MLS, while the Crown won 2-1 in MLS and 1-0 in the US Open Cup this season.

Orlando just won on a stoppage time PK over St. Louis (2-1) on Saturday and have scored in 8/9 in all comps and also in 16/18 but have also conceded in each of their past seven.

Charlotte just defeated LAFC 2-1 at home and have scored in 12/14 recent home games across all comps.

  • MLS Predictions: Both Teams to Score (-160); Caesars Sportsbook

Inter Miami vs Nashville SC Prediction

It’s a Leagues Cup Final rematch already. Messi and Miami just defeated Nashville in Nashville in penalties after a 1-1 draw a couple of weeks ago. Now the venue switches to DRV PNK. Messi scored in all seven Leagues Cup games, didn’t score in the US Open Cup Semifinals, but got back on the scoresheet in his first MLS game on Saturday despite only playing 30 minutes. He now has 11 goals and six assists in his nine games with the Herons, of which Miami has won all nine, despite three going to PKs after regulation draws.

Nashville just suffered their worse loss in franchise history losing 4-0 to Atlanta on Saturday.

  • MLS Predictions: Inter Miami to Win (-175); Bet365

New England Revolution vs New York Red Bulls Prediction

These teams played in MLS on July 8 with New York winning 2-1 and then played again in the Leagues Cup on July 22 in New York again, with the Red Bulls winning in penalties after a 0-0 draw.

New England lost 1-0 to Montreal on the weekend but they had scored in 10/11 in all comps previously. They’ve also conceded in 10 of their past 12 and with Đorđe Petrović now sold to Chelsea, that trend may continue. But, the Red Bulls struggle to score with only five goals in their past six games, but have only allowed four goals themselves. The under is a perfect 6-0 in that time.

  • MLS Predictions: Under 2.5 (-106); Bet365

New York City SC vs CF Montreal Prediction

Montreal is one of the teams that New York will need to chase down for a potential playoff spot. Montreal are eighth with 35 points, while New York are 13th with 26 points.

Including Leagues Cup, Montreal has won four of five, though three of those wins came at home. The other was against Toronto. On the road, Montreal has struggled at 2-2-9 being outscored 29-8.

NYCFC were the draw kings heading into Leagues Cup at 1-7-1 entering the tournament. They won once and lost twice in Leagues Cup and have since lost 2-0 and 3-0 back in league play. In MLS, that means it’s just one win in 17 games since April 22. That one win was versus Montreal though.

New York won in Montreal 1-0 on July first and I see another low-scoring game here. Both teams have been Under teams all season at 15-10 (MTL) and 17-9 (NYC).

  • MLS Predictions: Under 2.5 (-106); Bet365

Toronto FC vs Philadelphia Union Prediction

The Union are 9-0-1 in their past ten in all comps and just went on the road and beat DC 3-1 on the weekend. Toronto has lost ten in a row across all comps after losing to Columbus 2-0 and Montreal 3-2 recently. They’re winless in 13 and have been outscored 23-3 in those ten losses. Philly win in plus-money in the MLS odds.

  • MLS Predictions: Philadelphia to Win (+110); Bet365

Austin FC vs Seattle Sounders Prediction

Seattle are third in the West, while Austin are ninth, but it’s only a five-point difference and there isn’t much to split between these teams lately. Austin had been 4-1-1 heading into Leagues Cup but then lost back-to-back 3-1 results. They returned to MLS play with a 6-3 loss to St. Louis and 1-0 loss to Dallas on the weekend losing in the dying seconds in the 97′ minute after hitting the crossbar themselves minutes earlier. That’s four losses in a row while being outscored 13-5.  Prior to the Dallas loss, bets on both teams scoring had been 7-0 for Austin.

For Seattle, they’re ice-cold themselves. The Sounders had only two wins in nine heading into Leagues Cup, lost both games in the tournament 3-0 and 4-2, and returned to league play with a 2-0 loss to Atlanta and 1-1 draw with Minnesota. In all comps, they’re winless in six and have been outscored 13-4.

Austin won 2-1 in Seattle in May and I could see both teams scoring again here in my MLS picks,

  • MLS Predictions: Both Teams to Score (-140); Caesars Sportsbook

Chicago Fire vs Vancouver Whitecaps Prediction

Vancouver will be road warriors for the next six weeks. They started game one of seven straight on the road with a 3-2 road win in Portland on the weekend.

Chicago took an early red card on the weekend versus the Galaxy and lost 3-0. Including Leagues Cup, they’ve now lost four straight and have been outscored 8-2.

The Caps just won on the road but overall they’re 2-3-5 away from home and those two road wins are their only two in their past 18 in MLS, while conceding a goal in 17 of those 18. In their past 30 road MLS games, they have just four wins.

Bets on both teams scoring is 8-2 in the Caps’ past ten road games and that looks like a good parlay piece at -200. But for better value in the MLS odds we’ll back the draw.

  • MLS Predictions: Draw (+260); Be365

Houston Dynamo vs Columbus Crew Prediction

Coming out of Leagues Cup Columbus have won 3-0 and 2-0. While Houston has won 5-0 and 3-0 plus a 3-1 win in the US Open Cup as well.

In all competitions the Crew have only failed to score twice in 31 games in 2023 and have scored multiple goals in each of their past six.

Houston are rock-solid though at home at 8-2-2, outscoring opponents 24-8 while scoring multiple goals in seven of their past nine home games.

  • MLS Predictions: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 (-125); Bet365

Minnesota United vs Colorado Rapids Prediction

There are usually goals in this matchup as Minnesota won 2-1 earlier this season and other recent scores were 4-3, 2-1, 3-1 and 3-1. Bets on both teams scoring and the over are 8-2 in the past ten and Over 2.5 goals has cashed in 9/10.

But the safer bet may jut be a Loons win. Colorado had one win in 13 across all comps heading into Leagues Cup, lost both games in the tournament and came out of the break losing 4-0 to LAFC in MLS last week.

That means the Rapids are 1-4-11 in their past 15 while being outscored 29-9 in all competitions. On the road in MLS, they’ve been outscored 24-9. Meanwhile, in all comps, Minnesota is 7-3-3 in their past 11 and have scored multiple goals in nine of those games.

  • MLS Predictions: Minnesota to Win (-143); Bet365

St. Louis City SC vs FC Dallas Prediction

First in the West, St. Louis, hosts eighth place Dallas here. In the only previous meeting Dallas won 2-0 at home in June. Away from home Dallas only has two wins in 12 games this season and just nine goals.

Meanwhile, CITYPARK has been a fortress for St. Louis where they are 9-1-3. St. Louis are tied with Columbus for the most home goals in the league so far with 35 and have scored in all but one game on their home pitch. Their last home game was a 6-3 thumping of Austin. Last game, they lost on a late penalty winner in Orlando, but did welcome back DP striker Joao Klauss.

  • MLS Predictions: St. Louis to Win (-125); Bet365

Portland Timbers vs Real Salt Lake Prediction

The Pablo Ruiz loss for RSL is proving to be a big loss as RSL lost 4-0 to LAFC in the game he was injured in and then suffered back-to-back losses to Houston, 3-1 and 3-0.

Portland got smacked 5-0 to Houston themselves in the MLS re-start. That cost Gio Savarese his job, and the Timbers didn’t get any sort of “new coach bump” after his departure losing at home to Cascadia rivals Vancouver 3-2 on the weekend.

Earlier this season it was 0-0 in MLS, while RSL won 4-3 in the US Open Cup.

  • MLS Predictions: Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 (-110); Be365

San Jose Earthquakes vs Los Angeles Galaxy Prediction

It’s the third edition of the Cali Classico this season with LA winning at home 2-1 in the first meeting and the teams drawing 2-2 in San Jose in the second. That makes it the sixth straight time a bet on both teams to score and over 2.5 has cashed in this rivalry. This is the highest scoring head-to-head matchup in MLS history. Let’s bet on goals in our MLS picks today.
