EPL Picks for Matchday 4

After securing a massive victory over Liverpool on Monday, the Red Devils head into their clash with Southampton as clear -130 favorites. As for the Merseysiders, they’re essentially a lock to finally grab their first win at -1000 on the moneyline against newly promoted Bournemouth.

Perhaps the most intriguing game in terms of Premier League odds is Wolves vs Newcastle. Both sides are at +117 odds for Sunday’s encounter. No shortage of value either way.

Southampton vs Man United Prediction

Starting off the weekend is the Saints playing host to Manchester United. Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men are 1-1-1 so far in league action, running out as 2-1 winners last weekend vs Leicester City at the King Power. Che Adams provided the magic as he netted a late second-half brace after James Maddison bagged a 54th-minute opener.

The Red Devils suffered two straight defeats to begin the campaign and were the talk of the Premier League. With their backs up against the wall, Erik ten Hag’s side produced the goods against Liverpool at the Theatre of Dreams earlier this week thanks to two fine finishes from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. The most surprising part? They did it without Cristiano Ronaldo, who was left out of the starting XI. Harry Maguire was also dropped.

United looked very good in their last fixture and Southampton is winless in 12 outings versus the Red Devils. I do like the visitors to grab another key victory, but I think it’ll be an entertaining encounter. You can take them to win on the moneyline but there’s also a specific bet worth putting a bit of cash on for your Premier League picks.

Picks: Manchester United (-130) & to win by 1 (+295)

Brentford vs Everton Prediction

Brentford welcomes a helpless Everton side to London on Saturday, looking to build off their strong start. The Bees already have lots to be happy about this term, playing to a 2-2 draw with Leicester in their opener and then absolutely tearing apart Manchester United on matchday two in a 4-0 win. But, last Saturday was heartbreaking, succumbing to a 3-2 defeat to Fulham after Aleksandar Mitrovic netted a late winner. That was Brentford’s first loss.

The Toffees are really in poor form at the moment. They’ve yet to collect three points, losing their first two games and then playing to a 1-1 stalemate with newcomers Nottingham Forest on Matchday 3. Everton had no shortage of chances either with a total of eight shots on target but the breakthrough didn’t come until late in the second half when Demarai Gray salvaged a point for Frank Lampard’s squad.

The Bees certainly have the upper hand over the Toffees, beating them in both meetings last term. Without Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the visitors honestly just don’t pose much of a threat up top. Plus, Brentford has kept a clean sheet in five of their previous six outings on home soil. I’m liking the hosts here.

Pick: Brentford +100

Wolves vs Newcastle United Prediction

A winless Wolves outfit plays host to Newcastle on Sunday at the Molineux. Bruno Lage’s men are really struggling in front of goal so far, scoring once in three matches while conceding three as well. They’re certainly not getting blown out of the water, but there is a lack of quality in the final third. Last weekend was a 1-0 defeat to Spurs courtesy of a Harry Kane goal.

The Magpies should be pleased with their start to the campaign, winning once and drawing twice. Most importantly, Newcastle impressed heavily on matchday three against title-holders Manchester City. While it ended in a 3-3 draw, they had a 3-1 lead at one point and had absolutely no problem finding their way through the Cityzens backline. Allan Saint-Maximin once again proved why he’s so vital to this club, supplying two assists and creating havoc all game long.

Newcastle is full of confidence after a delightful result last weekend. Their attack is in good form and should be able to produce here. I like the visitors on the moneyline.

Pick: Newcastle +170
