With only six matches remaining in the 2021-22 campaign, the German Bundesliga is reaching its boiling point. While Bayern Munich have a six point lead at the top and -10,000 odds to win the Bundesliga, a more competitive race is brewing for the top four. Luckily, Bundesliga fans are in for a treat as fourth-place RB Leipzig battles against sixth-place Hoffenheim on Sunday.
The two sides are separated by a mere four points. Surprisingly, that is a difference that RB Leipzig were able to make up in just two Bundesliga matches. Hoffenheim have been the belle of the ball this season, going from an eleventh place finish last year to possible Champions League contention.
However, to put it honestly, they are bottling their chances of that enormous opportunity. In fact, Sebastian Hoeneß’s side has already had two, four-game winless runs this season. If they fail to win at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday, it will mark a third horrendous run of that nature.

Overall, the moneyline odds heavily favor RB Leipzig at -210, while Hoffenheim has odds of +510. Goals are also expected in this match with the over on 3.5 goals sitting at +118, despite this head-to-head battle hitting the under on 2.5 total goals in six out of seven recent matches.
Die Rotten Bullen Have Dominated in 2022
Nonetheless, the odds favor RB Leipzig for justified reasons. Firstly, they have definitely had the upper hand in this head-to-head battle in recent years. In their last seven meetings, RB Leipzig is 4-2-1, with the only loss coming towards the end of Jesse Marsch’s tumultuous and brief stint as manager. Moreover, Hoffenheim have not defeated RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena since 2018.

Now, fast forward to present time, and these sides could not be on more different runs of form. Hoffenheim are winless in three Bundesliga matches, while RB Leipzig have not saw defeat in seven.

Furthermore, Die Roten Bullen has the best point tally in the second half of the Bundesliga season. In that same eleven game run, Domenico Tedesco’s side has also scored the most goals and conceded the fewest. While they have played out stalemates with the likes of Freiburg, Frankfurt and Atalanta as of late, this could be a much better spell of form for RB Leipzig.

Individually, they will be without Tyler Adams and Yussuf Poulsen this weekend, which are notable absences. Still, the presence of Christopher Nkunku and Andre Silva should provide RB Leipzig with all the confidence they need. The duo has a combined 64 goal contributions this year, which is simply magnificent.
Hoffenheim Dealing With a Slew of Scratches
Conversely, Hoffenheim do not have a lot to look forward to on Sunday. Since a four-game winning run and draw to Bayern Munich, they have lost successive games to bottom half teams in Hertha Berlin and Bochum.
"Domenico Tedesco has managed to stabilise the team again in a short time. They are all on the same page and are on a good run right now. Leipzig are currently the form team in the second half of the season."

Additionally, they are going to have to cope with a slew of injuries and suspensions on Sunday evening. The list of players includes the likes of David Raum, Kevin Vogt, Kevin Akpoguma, Sebastian Rudy, Dennis Geiger and Florian Grillitsch. In particular, missing Raum and Vogt serves as a major blow to the Hoffenheim defense.
Finally, if you needed any more evidence of a probable Hoffenheim loss, you can look in the direction of their away record. Die Kraichgauer only win 43% of their games on the road, while RB Leipzig win 71% of their home fixtures in the Bundesliga.
RB Leipzig vs Hoffenheim Best Bet
Overall, the best bet is the -1.5 spread in favor of RB Leipzig with odds of +128. This pick has great value as Hoffenheim are mediocre away from home and are without too many key names.
