The 33rd round of Premier League matches are this weekend, and Manchester City will be challenged as they travel to Southampton.

City have been running rampant since the restart, ignoring a 2-1 defeat to the hands of Chelsea, which handed Liverpool the Premier League title.

Nonetheless, Pep Guardiola’s side got their revenge Thursday night as they beat a sluggish Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.

On the other hand, Southampton have been somewhat brighter since the English restart. Former Liverpool striker Danny Ings has led the Saints out of the relegation zone and spurred them on to two wins against Norwich and Watford.

Despite this being a David vs Goliath matchup, it could be quite entertaining with fluent goal scorers on both sides of the pitch.

The Manchester City Rotation is Deadly

What makes this Manchester City side so great is their ability to rotate and still churn out amazing results against strong opponents. Against Liverpool, the Citizens started Eric Garcia, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus.

All of which put in very good shifts of play. This should frighten Southampton, as Ralph Hasenhüttl will have to start his strongest team if he even wants a chance at a result.

Furthermore, this rotation has spurred City to four wins and 15 goals in only five matches. Additionally, Manchester City have only conceded once, making this challenge even more difficult for Nathan Redmond and his teammates.

Southampton have scored 41 goals this season, which is good enough for the most in the bottom half of the table. A goal in the reverse fixture makes one question if they will be able to break through this brick defense once again.

History On The Side of The Citizens

The last time Southampton took points off of Manchester City was in 2016. That year, the Saints were able to draw and beat Sergio Aguero’s side. However, since then Manchester City have won seven in a row with an aggregated score of 20-5.

This game in particular has no real value to win for either side. Southampton is well above the relegation zone, Manchester City cannot catch Liverpool and are very unlikely to drop to third place.

Despite this, players will be eager to strut their stuff on the pitch on Sunday to prove to their respective managers that they are the first-choice option next fall.

Best Bet

In conclusion, the best bet for this match is to bet the spread on Man City at -1.5 with odds of -106. These odds are some of the best on the table and historically speaking, the Citizens have covered this four of out the last seven match-ups against the Saints.

Guardiola just has too much natural and fresh talent to give Southampton a chance here. Ings might be able to pick out a goal, but that does not mean City will not pick out three, four, or even five goals on Sunday evening.

The pick: Manchester City -1.5 (-106)
