Sporting Lisbon will be hopeful of a repeat win over Besiktas when they meet for the second time in Champions League Group C on Wednesday.
Portuguese champion Sporting revived its qualification hopes with a thumping 4-1 win in Turkey on Matchday 3 on October 19. And it is a huge favorite for a win this midweek.
That win secured its first points in this section as it sits in third place.

Besiktas, meanwhile, has little hope in the group after three straight defeats.
The two teams are, furthermore, in contrasting domestic form.
Five Straight League Wins for Sporting
Following its 1-0 home defeat of Vitoria de Guimaraes last weekend, undefeated Sporting has won five straight league fixtures.
It sits in second place in Portugal’s Primeira Liga after ten games with a record of eight wins and two draws.

However, it is level on 26 points with leaders Porto.
Comparatively, Besiktas has lost two and won one of its last three Turkish Super Lig games. That leaves it in fourth place after six wins, two draws and three defeats.
The team suffered a 1-0 defeat against second-placed Hatayspor last Saturday.

The oddsmakers at DraftKings accordingly make Sporting virtual certainties for a home win at -260 with kick-off off at 4:00 pm ET.
The draw, meanwhile, is priced at +425. Besiktas. Moreover, the Turkish club is a huge outsider at +700.
The value here, therefore, is in the spread given Sporting’s big win in Istanbul a fortnight ago and the two sides’ contrasting form.

At +115, the offer for Sporting to win by two goals or more is a decent prospect (Spread -1.5).
Then there is the bolder choice of +320 for a Sporting win by three goals or more (Spread -2.5.) The first option seems more realistic.

Certainly, Sporting will be keen now to capitalize on its victory in Turkey.
It will aim to make up further ground in attempting to catch up with second-placed Borussia Dortmund, which has six points.
Sporting defender Coates is enjoying a purple patch with four goals in his last four appearances.
Defender Sebastian Coates scored twice for Sporting in the 4-1 win last month.
Further goals came from Pablo Sarabia and Joao “Paulinho” Fernandes – with Canadian Cyle Larin claiming the sole reply for Besiktas.

Defender Coates is enjoying a purple patch with four goals in his last four appearances.
That defeat, meanwhile, leaves the Turkish club with the sole hope of somehow claiming third place and heading into the Europa League knockout stages next spring.
Only Two Wins in Eight for Besiktas
However, it has won only two of its last eight fixtures in all competitions.
It has lost its last five away games in European competition; conceding 16 goals and scoring only four times along the way.
And it has won only once in its last 11 fixtures against Portuguese opposition, drawing five and losing five.

Sporting may equally have some reservations about its home form in Europe. Indeed, it has lost 4-1 and 5-1 in its last two European fixtures at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.
Besiktas, though, is hardly in the mood to inflict such punishment this time around.
Sporting is aiming to record consecutive wins in the UCL for the first time since November 2014.
That 5-1 defeat for Sporting came on Group C’s Matchday 1 against current group leaders Ajax.
It subsequently lost 1-0 at Borussia Dortmund when, at least, it sorted out some of its defensive problems.
At the same time, Besiktas lost its opening game 2-1 at Borussia Dortmund.
Following that, there was a 2-0 setback at Ajax before the hammering by Sporting.
Twin Meetings in 2015
There were previously two meetings between these sides before the clash last month.
The teams drew 1-1 in the Europa League in October 2015 in Turkey. Sporting then won the return fixture 3-1 two months later.
Now, Sporting is aiming to record consecutive wins in the UCL for the first time since November 2014.
Despite those two big defeats in its last two home European fixtures, the team has not lost three successive European games at home since September 2007.

This further emphasizes the upper hand it will surely hold against ailing Besiktas.
So, to sum up, Besiktas is in a forlorn form in the UCL while Sporting has revived its chances and now has second spot to aim for.
A comfortable home win, therefore, looks in prospect with a two-goal margin highly realistic.
Pick: Sporting Lisbon -1.5 (+115)
