  • On Wednesday, November 27th, Valencia will host Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League at 12:55 pm EST
  • Currently, there is a three-way tie on seven points in Group H between Chelsea, Valencia, and Ajax
  • Chelsea are the favorites in the match with a moneyline of +136

The Champions League is back next week, and many groups will start to get a feel for who is going through to the next round. This is especially the case for Group H, as three teams are tied at the top while Lille hangs back on one point. Two of the teams deadlocked, Cheslea and Valencia will be going head to head on Wednesday afternoon, with Champions League knockout stages hanging in the balance.

Aside from losing to Manchester United in the League Cup, Chelsea have been on flying form, winning four out of the last six and completing a miraculous comeback against Ajax. Their most recent success came against neighbors Crystal Palace, where goals from Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham spurred them to victory. Meanwhile, Spanish side Valencia have won their last three in all competitions by a combined score of 8-2. Despite this, Chelsea is still narrowly favored in the match.

Lampard’s Men Are Flying in England

The London team’s success has come as a surprise this year after facing a two-window transfer ban, however, with the additions of academy talents such as Mount, Abraham, and Tomori, they have been scintillating under Frank Lampard. Together Mount and Abraham have combined for 14 goals and 3 assists, while Pulisic is also starting to heat up with five goals in his last three league games.

It will be a tough ask for Valencia, however, they did win the reverse fixture away from home at Stamford Bridge. The result does not necessarily tell the story of the match as Chelsea outshot them 22-8, and had 20% more possession, but nonetheless a Rodrigo goal found Albert Celades’s men the three points.

Valencia will have to rely heavily on the likes of Maxi Gomez and Daniel Parejo to get a result, as they have combined for 11 goals so far this campaign.

Their offense has been far more fluid as of late, after playing in three straight games only scoring one goal. Expect this game to be much like the last time these two squads met up with each other. Valencia will plan to absorb most of the Chelsea attack and hope to nick one late in the game.

Best Bet

While the result might be a little hard to figure out, this game has “goal-fest” written all over it. Both teams have been scoring multiple goals a game in recent fixtures, and to be fair Chelsea could probably cover this bet on their own.

Their offense has been magical lately, and even if Valencia tries to pack it in, it will be tough for the Spaniards to get a result. Nevertheless, this bet has good value and is safe, as the last time Chelsea played in European competition, the game had eight goals.

Pick: Over 2.5, 3 (-118)
