Krajinovic’s First Final of the Season

Prior to this week, Krajinovic had never been able to win on grass. Now he’s in the final of a grass court tournament. To earn his spot in the final, he defeated two-time champion Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-3.

It’s safe to say that the Serb has surprised us all this week. He mentioned that he usually skips out on the grass court events. But with the way he’s played this year, he might want to reevaluate that.

In his semifinal match against Cilic, he was able to capitalize on a poor match played by Cilic. The Croatian’s serve was not really working for him in the way he’s used to, and Krajinovic took advantage.

He’ll now have another tough match ahead of him, facing Berrettini.

Berrettini Looking to Repeat

The 26-year old reached his fourth consecutive grass final on Saturday after he defeated Botic van de Zandschulp 6-4, 6-3. Not only is this his fourth consecutive grass final, but he has now won 19 of his last 20 matches on grass.

The World No. 10 only dropped four points on his first serve, with once again, his serve being his biggest asset. There was some back and forth between the two for a bit, but Berrettini was able to secure the win in a relatively straightforward match.

Third Meeting between Krajinovic and Berrettini

Both of their previous matches were played on an outdoor clay court. Their first meeting came in 2019, with their most recent one happening last year. Berrettini won both matches, leading their head-to-head 2-0.

This will be their first meeting on grass.

Where’s the Best Bet?

On paper, there’s no question, Berrettini is the best bet. With the performance that the Italian has put on on grass, and his success he’s had at this particular tournament, combined with his head-to-head record against Krajinovic, he’s the best bet.

Krajinovic will put up a fight, and it might come close. But Berrettini’s forehand and serve are just so powerful, that it will be hard for Krajinovic to gain any sort of momentum.

Best Bet: Matteo Berrettini 2-0 (-165)
