Frances Tiafoe vs Sebastian Korda Prediction

  • Pick: Over 40.5 games (-110)

Sebastian Korda has ruled this matchup of late, winning the last three head-to-head matchups, and losing just one set to Frances Tiafoe along the wayt.

However, the 27-year-old Tiafoe does have the lone win on clay, taking out Korda in a three-setter back in 2022.

2021 ATP Masters 1000 Indian WellsTiafoe6-0, 6-4Hard
2018 New York OpenTiafoe4-6, 6-4, 6-2Hard

Tiafoe has breezed through his first two matches, winning in straight sets vs Roman Safiullin and Pablo Carreno Busta. However, it hasn’t been a great start to the season.

Save for reaching the Final at the US Men’s Clay Court Championship, Tiafoe has advanced past the second round just once.

Not a lot of good vibes for Korda either: since making the final at the Adelaide International in his first tournament of the season, he has just a QF appearance in his other nine appearances.

Someone is going to advance to the next round, and whoever that is, it’s going to be a grind to get there.

Lorenzo Musetti vs Mariano Navone Prediction

  • Pick: Navone +7.5 games (+500)

Let’s take a stab at a match that could be far closer than the stats indicate.

Lorenzo Musetti has been a fixture on the clay court circuit, dropping semifinal matches to Carlos Alcaraz at Rome and Jack Draper in Madrid, while falling to Alcaraz in the title match in Monte Carlo. The eighth-ranked player in the Paris seems destined for another deep run.

So how can make 24-year-old Argentinian Mariano Navone stay within range?

He’s had his struggles on the year, as he all but one of his tournaments this season has ended later than a Round 2 exit.

However, he did show some guts in bouncing no. 28 Brandon Nakashima in four sets in the 1st Round.

He’s also 1-1 vs Musetti in his career, knocking him off in straight sets at last year’s Cagliari Tournament — on the clay, no less — at 7-5, 6-1.

Musetti will likely advance, but it’s worth a flier at those odds for the kid to keep it close.

Holger Rune vs Quentin Halys Prediction

  • Pick: Over 35.5 games (-120)

Since winning the Barcelona Open in April, knocking off Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets, no less, it’s been a couple of early exits for Holger Rune.

He’s failed to advance past the Round 3 in both Madrid and Rome, and while he’s won both matches at Roland Garros, he needed four sets to down Roberto Agut and needed a tiebreak in his straight sets win over Emilio Nava.

Quentin Halys got past Round 1 when 21-seed Tomas Machac retired, then needed four sets to bounce Miomir Kecmanovic. He’ll be trying to get past the 3rd Round for the first time since Dubai, when he lost in the semifinals.

It will be only the second time these two have met, but their 3rd Round match at Wimbledon in 2024 went the distance, with Rune outlasting the Frenchman, easily clearing Friday’s line.

Tommy Paul vs Karen Khachanov Prediction

  • Pick: Paul ML (+110)

American Tommy Paul has had a nice start to his season, advancing to at least the quarterfinals in five tournaments this season.

But Paul has been pushed through two rounds, going four sets against Elmer Moller, then falling down two sets, only to rally in five sets to dispatch Marton Fucsovics.

He has won both his matches over Russian Karen Khachanov, including their most recent matchup on clay, taking him down in 3rd Round action in Madrid.

Paul is 10-3 on clay this year, while Khachanov improved to 9-5, outlasting his second-round opponent Sebastian Ofner in a five-set marathon 7-5, 3-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.

Even with Paul’s struggles, I like him to keep his win streak over Khachanov intact.
