She beat Elina Svitolina 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals, after dominating the second set in the quarters against Shuai Zhang 6-1. The sweetheart of this year’s Wimbledon, 15-year-old American Coco Gauff, was no match for Halep in the Round of 16.

Williams has lost two sets at Wimbledon this year. After a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 quarterfinal win over Alison Riske, Serena threaded veteran Barbora Strýcová 6-1, 6-2 in the semis.
