It’s been a long week, but the final of the Madrid Open is here, and it’s expected to be a good one. The best of the best of competing for the trophy as World No. 1 Iga Swiatek takes on World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka. This is the second straight tournament these two are competing in the final.
The two are scheduled to play the final at 12:30pm ET. Continue below for match odds, as well as our Swiatek vs Sabalenka breakdown and Madrid Open prediction.

I’m a bit surprised the moneyline isn’t closer here, but regardless it makes sense that Swiatek is the favorite heading into this match. Just don’t completely write off Sabalenka here.

Swiatek Continues to Win
The 21-year old is the best right now, there’s not much more to say. She’s been extremely consistent this week, controlling her matches, and shutting her opponents down. In her semifinal match against Veronika Kudermetova, she came out strong, winning the first set 6-1. She then continued her momentum into her second, and won 6-1, 6-1 in just about an hour and 20 minutes.

She’s now improved to 9-0 on clay this season, and extended her extremely impressive 27-1 record on clay since last year.
Can Sabalenka Upset Swiatek?
It was just two years ago when Sabalenka stunned us all by defeated the then No. 1 Ashleigh Barty in the final. The newly 25-year old, who’s birthday is today, has been playing great tennis all week.
In her semifinal match, she caught Maria Sakkari completely off guard, and won 6-4, 6-1. The Greek star wasn’t able to gain any sort of momentum in the match, and Sabalenka controlled it from start to finish. The match was wrapped up in just about an hour and a half, and Sablenka ended on a strong note, winning the last five games in the match.

The Belarusian now holds a tour-leading 28 wins on the season, as she’s on the hunt for her third trophy of the year.
Familiar Faces
These two are no stranger to one another. The two have faced each other a total of seven times, and already once this year. Funny enough, most of their meetings have come later in tournaments, whether it be a quarter, semi, of final match.
Swiatek currently holds the head-to-head edge with a 5-2 record, and won their most recent match, which happened just two weeks ago, in the final at Stuttgart. They were also the one, two seeds there.
The last time Sabalenka recorded a win against Swiatek was at the semifinal of the 2022 WTA Final, where she won in three.

Swiatek vs Sabalenka Pick
It doesn’t happen often where the two top ranked players in the world meet twice in the same season, so this is already an exciting match before it even starts.
So where’s the best bet? This one is a tough one. Both players have a very strong baseline game, extremely dominant serves, and more often than not overpower and outplay their opponents. But now they’re meeting their match in Madrid.
The biggest factor here is that the two have played a total of three matches on clay, and Swiatek has won them all. We all know clay is one of, if not, Swiatek’s most successful surface, so not many people have been able to take a match from her on it.
It’s going to be tight, but expect Swiatek to come out of this in straight sets.
