[25] Borna Coric vs Jenson Brooksby Prediction

There’s a first for everything, and this is the first career meeting between Coric and Brooksby. The two are scheduled to play tomorrow at 11am ET at Grandstand.

Coric booked his spot in the second round after defeating Enzo Couacaud in five sets. The Croatian came out to a 2-0 start, but wasn’t able to put his opponent away right away. Brooksby’s opening round match ended early when his opponent Dusan Lajovic withdrew in the third set. Brooksby had one the first two sets and was up 3-0, when Lajovic retired.

Brooksby will come into the match with a bit of a edge seeing that any match he plays is in front of a home crowd. The 21-year old is a native of California, but will look to the New York crowd to give him momentum. But will that be enough? The fact that he doesn’t have a full match under his belt could either work for his or against him.

Best Bet: Borna Coric (+110)

[17] Grigor Dimitrov vs Brandon Nakashima Prediction

This is the second career meeting, and second meeting of the year for Dimitrov and Nakashima. The two played each other earlier this year in Rome, where Dimitrov won the round of 64 match in straight sets.

Dimitrov comes into this match as the slight favorite, listed at -145, with Nakashima at +125. On paper, you would think Dimitrov would be a stronger favorite, but neither player has a strong hard court surface record. Dimitrov favors clay, the surface he defeated Nakashima earlier this year, and the American has found success on grass.

Both players enter this match having defeated their first round opponents in straight sets. The two dominated their opponents and controlled their respected matches.

Nakashima’s play on grass has been able to translate over to hard court surfaces more than Dimitrov’s play on clay. It’s very possible Nakashima pulls off the upset here. He’ll also have a little bit extra, avenging the loss against Dimitrov not too long ago.

Best Bet: Brandon Nakashima (+145)

[32] Miomir Kecmanovic vs Richard Gasquet Prediction

This will be the second match between these two, and again the second match of the year as well. Kecmanovic and Gasquet met earlier this year, during the clay court portion of the season, where Kecmanovic won in straight sets.

Kecmanovic is coming off a come from behind win, after dropping his first set in his opening match. He then went on to win the next three to move on. Gasquet on the other hand, had more of a back and forth match in the opening round. But ultimately managed to win in four as well.

As the higher ranked and seeded player, look for Kecmanovic to come out on top.

Best Bet: Miomir Kecmanovic in four sets (+320)
