- A trip to the finals will be on the line when Ashleigh Barty and Danielle Collins matchup in the semifinals
- Barty is a healthy favorite but Collins has upset the odds several times already
- We give our choice for a winner down below
It’s a tale of two completely different players. One who was expected to be here in Ashleigh Barty who is the number one ranked player in the world and Danielle Collins, someone who is unranked in the WTA Adelaide International.
To the surprise of no one, Barty is favored in this contest but with Collins penchant for causing upsets, could there be a bit of value in taking her in this one?
Ashleigh Barty vs Danielle Collins Odds
Player | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Ashleigh Barty | -3.5 (-125) | -225 | O 21.5 (-105) |
Danielle Collins | +3.5 (-105) | +175 | U 21.5 (-125) |
Odds taken Jan. 16
Danielle Collins Has Played Unbelievable
Danielle Collins is a world-class player. She is after all, ranked number 27 in the world. Still, what she has done during this tournament is ridiculous. Her first-round opponent Aliaksandra Sasnovich didn’t stand a chance as she fell in straight sets.
Next up for Barty…

In the following round, Collins was expected to be ousted at the hands of Sofia Kenin but it was a role reversal as Collins destroyed her in straight sets. Dropping just four games throughout. The fourth-seeded Belinda Bencic was next up, but she suffered the same fate as those before her.
Collins has looked more like a top-five player this week but will that be enough in the semifinals?
Ashleigh Barty is Starting to Find Her Rhythm
After a great 2019, but a disappointing result at the Brisbane Open to start 2020, Barty is picking up right where she left off to end last season.
The number one ranked player in the world needed three sets to get rid of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She had a much easier time against Marketa Vondrousova in the following round as it took her just straight sets to get the job done.

2019 was a year to remember for Barty. After winning the first grand slam of her career, if she can follow that up with a finals appearance it can truly set the tone for her 2020 season.
Barty vs Collins Stats
1 | Rankings | 27 |
2 | Head to Head Wins | 0 |
40-11 | Hard Court Wins 2019 | 13-12 |
59-14 | Overall Wins 2019 | 21-19 |
Collins has been looking great without a doubt but she will need to rid herself of a player who seems to be at the top of her game at the moment.
All signs might point to Collins struggling in this matchup but if we take into account that she has defeated both the number 7 seed and the number 4 seed in this contest where she was the obvious underdog, then she might present a bit of value to bettors.
Final Pick: Ashleigh Barty
The history between Collins and Barty is a recent one. Every single one of their encounters took place last year and they weren’t entirely close.
Collins is fresh off her second straight upset victory but asking her to pull off a third in a row is a bit too much at this point. With the first grand slam of the year just a few days away, Barty is rounding into form at just the right time to make a deep run.
Expect her to stretch her head to head lead against Collins to three as she books her ticket to the finals.
