The greatest rivalry in women’s hockey is back on the Olympic stage. Team USA (3-0, 9 pts) takes on Canada (2-0, 6 pts) in a Group A matchup that will determine the top seed heading into the knockout rounds at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Puck drop is set for 2:10 pm ET from the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena. You can catch the action on USA Network and Peacock in the U.S., or CBC and CBC Gem in Canada.
Here’s my USA vs Canada women’s hockey prediction, plus the latest odds and prop bets for the 2026 Olympics.

I’m riding with Team USA here, and the Poulin news is a big reason why. Losing the best player in women’s hockey history — a five-time Olympian who has tormented the Americans for two decades — is a massive blow for Canada heading into the biggest game of the group stage.
But even with Poulin healthy, I’d lean toward the Americans. Team USA has won six straight against Canada, including a clean sweep of the pre-Olympic Rivalry Series where they outscored their rivals 24-7. That kind of dominance doesn’t just vanish overnight.
The Americans have been rolling through group play, outscoring opponents 15-1 with back-to-back shutouts over Finland (5-0) and Switzerland (5-0). Nine different players have already scored, and coach John Wroblewski has been able to roll four lines effectively, which keeps everyone fresh.
Canada has looked good too, beating Switzerland 4-0 and Czechia 5-1. But the depth gap between these two rosters is real. The U.S. got two goals from Hayley Scamurra, their 13th forward who logged less than seven minutes of ice time in the opener. That’s how deep this team is.
Worth noting: the last four Olympic gold medal meetings between these teams have produced five or fewer combined goals. This is a rivalry that tightens up when it matters, and while Team USA has owned the recent head-to-head, Canada still holds a 7-3 edge in all-time Olympic meetings. Don’t expect a blowout, but I do expect the Americans to take care of business.
USA vs Canada Women’s Hockey Props
Anytime Goalscorer Odds
Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook.
The anytime goalscorer market is heavily tilted toward Team USA, with six Americans in the top 10. Knight is the clear favorite at +155, while Canada’s Sarah Fillier is the top-priced Canadian at +215.
If you’re hunting for value on the Canadian side, Natalie Spooner at +600 is interesting. She’s a veteran who could see an expanded role with Poulin out of the lineup.
USA vs Canada Best Prop Bets
- Hilary Knight anytime goal (+155 at DraftKings)
Knight is competing in her record fifth Olympics for Team USA, and she already has two goals in the tournament. She’s one goal shy of becoming the all-time U.S. Olympic goal-scoring leader, and you’d have to imagine she’s hungry to hit that milestone against her biggest rival.
DraftKings has her as the shortest-priced scorer on the board at +155, and for good reason. Against Canada in a game with this much on the line, Knight is exactly the type of player who finds the back of the net.
- Under 5.5 Goals (-120 at DraftKings)
I mentioned how tight these Olympic meetings tend to be, and that’s my case for the under. Canada’s Ann-Renee Desbiens came into the Games on a heater in the PWHL, posting a .957 save percentage and 0.99 GAA in January. She has the ability to steal a game, and even in a loss, I expect her to keep this competitive.
On the American side, Aerin Frankel has allowed just one goal on 25 shots in two starts. Both goaltenders are capable of shutting things down, which is exactly why four of the last four gold medal games between these teams stayed at five goals or under.
USA vs Canada Women’s Hockey Odds
Team USA is a -195 moneyline favorite, meaning you’d need to wager $195 to win $100 on the Americans. That translates to roughly a 66% implied probability for the U.S. to win.
Canada’s +160 moneyline puts their implied probability around 38%, so the books are giving them a better chance than you might think given how lopsided this tournament has been. 85% of bets at DraftKings are coming in on Team USA, so the public is heavily behind the favorites.
The puck line is set at 1.5 goals, with Team USA at +136 to win by two or more. That’s an appealing price if you think the Americans’ depth advantage takes over in the third period. On the flip side, Canada +1.5 at -162 is the play if you believe Desbiens can keep this within a goal.
The total sits at 5.5 goals, with the over at even money (+100) and the under juiced slightly at -120. Given the history of tight games between these two in Olympic play, I think the under is the sharper side, which is why it’s one of my picks above.
