The defending WNBA-champion New York Liberty (7-0, 3-0 away, 5-2 ATS) are seeking an 8-0 start when they visit the Washington Mystics (3-5, 2-1 home, 4-4 ATS). New York, which just thrashed the Connecticut Sun, is a massive 13.5-point road favorite in Thursday’s WNBA odds.
Washington’s 2-0 start is long in the rearview, as they’ve dropped five of six.
This one tips off Thursday night at 7:30pm ET from CareFirst Arena in Washington, DC with Prime Video carrying the broadcast.

New York Liberty vs Washington Mystics Picks
- Liberty vs Mystics pick: New York -13.5 (-114)
New York hasn’t taken its foot off the gas since winning the WNBA title.
They’re coming off a 100-52 annihilation of the Connecticut Sun, giving the Liberty their largest win of the season so far, and they haven’t been tested much: five of their first seven wins have been by at least 14 points.
Washington is one of the teams that’s felt that early-season surge, as they were run over 85-63 on May 30.
New York is getting it done on both ends of the court, leading the league in scoring at 91.9 points per game, while holding teams to just 71.3 points per contest, which also ranks first in the W.
Washington has played a road-heavy slate to start its season, with five of its first eight on the road, but they’re back in DC for a 3-game homestand.
The Mystics offense has gone into a funk during this slide, averaging just 71.7 points per game, shooting a rough 39.4% from the field — both Bottom-3 ranks in the league.
Their lone win over the last six games was against the Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever. To their credit, however, all but one of those losses (to New York) was inside single digits.
It’s tough to try and get things on the right track when you’re hosting the defending champs and one of the betting favorites in the WNBA Championship odds.
New York has owned his head-to-head, winning seven straight and nine of the last 10. Don’t be alarmed that Washington has covered four of the last six, and is 6-3-1 against the spread against the Liberty.
The Liberty are a different team than the one they played pre-championship, and they should dominate this matchup.

Only a thorough demolition of the Sun denied Sabrina Ionescu another big scoring day for the Liberty. The star guard still had a team high 18 points in 19 tidy minutes of work.
Ionescu has led New York in scoring in two straight games, and has cruised past her 18.5 scoring line set for Thursday in three of her previous four before the Connecticut game, where she missed the Over by a single point.
Her game high this season was 28 against these same Mystics, as Ionescu shot 9-for-16 from the field, including 4-for-11 from 3-point range.
Look for another big scoring game – at plus odds, no less – in the rematch.
- Liberty vs Fever player prop bet: Ionescu Over 18.5 points (+100)
