• March 14: Can the Liberty run it back? At +210 the New York Liberty, champions in 2024, are early favorites to win the 2025 WNBA Championship. They sit just ahead of the previous champs, the Las Vegas Aces (+295), who went back-to-back in ’22 and ’23. Unexpectedly, the expansion Golden State Valkyries (+20000) open their first campaign at the bottom of the odds table.

Past WNBA Champions

The best way of predicting the future is to look back at the past. Here are some interesting trends to consider before making a wager:

• Western Conference teams have won 7 of the last 10 and 11 of the last 15 WNBA championships
• Only seven Eastern Conference teams have won the WNBA Championship since 1997
• Only once has a team with a sub-.500 record made the WNBA Finals, the 2014 Chicago Sky

After the Sky won in 2021, the Aces in 2022, and now the Liberty in 2024, the WNBA has seen a new champion win in three of the last four seasons.

The Liberty are finally off this list! After New York’s first championship win in 2024, there are now just two teams with fans who are still waiting to celebrate a WNBA championship: the Connecticut Sun and Atlanta Dream. They’re likely to soon be joined by the Golden State Valkyries and Toronto Tempo, expansion teams that are respectively joining the WNBA in 2025 and 2026.
