Houston Betting Outlook

Senior guard Marcus Sasser has been better than ever this season after having his 2021-22 cut short after 12 games because of a broken foot. He has averages of 16.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.3 steals.

Consistency has always been one of Sasser’s hallmarks. He has scored at least 19 points in three of Houston’s four games.

Sasser had 15 points in the first half against Texas Southern. He finished with 20 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Freshman forward Jerace Walker added 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting and six rebounds. A likely lottery pick in next year’s NBA Draft, Walker is averaging 13.0 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Junior guard Tramon Mark has an 11.3 scoring average after missing a majority of last season with a should injury. Junior forward J’Wan Roberts is scoring 11.3 points and pulling down 6.0 rebounds a game. Junior guard Jamal Shead is averaging 6.5 assists a game.

Roberts scored 10 points on Wednesday at Houston shot 51.7% (31 of 60). The Cougars had assists on 19 of those baskets and outscored Texas Southern 50-24 in the paint.

Houston allowed Texas Southern to shoot just 36.7% (18 of 49) overall and 18.8% (3 of 16) from beyond the arc. The Cougars have held each of their opponents to 37% or less.

Houston turned 18 turnovers into 21 points while having just seven giveaways.

Oregon Betting Trends

Senior center N’Faly Dante, Oregon’s leading scorer, is questionable for Sunday. He injured his hip in the second half of the win over Montana State.

Dante is averaging 14.3 points and 8.3 rebounds a game.

Junior guard Keeshawn Barthelemy has averages of 10.7 points and 2.7 assists. Sophomore center Nate Bittle is scoring 10.0 points and corralling 5.7 rebounds per game.

Against Montana State, freshman center Kal’el Ware led Oregon with 16 points and seven rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench. He doubled his career high in scoring.

Senior guard Will Richardson had 12 points and six assists and senior forward Quincy Guerrier contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. Bittle and Barthelemy, a transfer from Colorado, added 10 points apiece.

Oregon had the better of the play throughout, including a 40-29 edge in rebounding.

The Ducks shot 53.3% (32 of 60) overall and 44.4% (12 of 27) on threes. Conversely, Montana State was just 19 of 59 (32.2%) and 4 of 24 (16.7%).

Houston vs Oregon Trends

Houston rolled to a 78-49 victory over Oregon last season at Paradise, Nev. Sasser had 14 points for the Cougars. Houston isn’t likely to win this meeting by the large of margin but is perhaps the best team in the country and capable of covering the spread on the road.

Pick: Houston -6.5 (-110)

CBK Season Record: 6-3 (+2.7 units) ATS
