Wild Card weekend certainly lived up to its billing.

Yet, no matter how impressive any team looked, they’re still looking up at the Kansas City Chiefs, who couldn’t be overtaken in the 2023 Super Bowl odds, as they watched with the lone bye in the AFC. They’re in at +300.

Perhaps the most impressive performance of the weekend was the domination put on by the San Francisco 49ers over the Seattle Seahawks.

The most intriguing bracket will be the AFC, though, as both the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals won on the weekend, setting up a mega divisional-round matchup.

KC probably shouldn’t rest too well, either, as they take on an upstart Jacksonville team that just pulled off the 3rd-biggest comeback in NFL playoff history.

Let’s have a look at the remaining teams left in the quest for the Lombardi Trophy.

Super Bowl 57 Odds

Kansas City Chiefs +300
Buffalo Bills +350
San Francisco 49ers +380
Philadelphia Eagles +550

New York Giants +3000

49ers Dismantle Seahawks

Perhaps any questions about a rookie pivot’s poise at the helm in San Francisco were answered Saturday.

After trailing 17-16 in an uneven opening half, the Niners got back to the business of dominating, shredding the Seattle Seahawks 41-23. They’ve now ripped off 11 straight wins. Their Super Bowl odds shorten from +500 to +380 and are definitely worth a sprinkle.

Seventh-round rookie Brock Purdy looked great in his playoff debut, throwing for 332 yards and three scores, while running in another.

The scary part? His performance was one of many impressive one Saturday.

The Niners’ defense put the ‘Hawks in a vice on the second half, holding them to six points, as they piled on 24 points to turn this into a blowout. They sacked Geno Smith three times, forcing a fumble and an interception.

It’s possible they have the two best — and definitely the most versatile – skill-position players still standing in the playoffs, and they can be trouble for anyone.

Christian McCaffrey ran for 119 yards, and also caught a TD, while Deebo Samuel had six grabs for 133 yards, with a back-breaking 74-yard catch and run TD. He also added 32 yards rushing.

Bills, Bengals Gut Out Wins

Perhaps it was because they had to go against a division rival, meaning a third head-to-head in a season, which is always difficult, but both the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals looked absolutely beatable this weekend.

The Bills were monster 13.5-point favorites, yet had to force a final stop with under two minutes to go to finally outlast the Dolphins 34-31.

Bad Josh Allen decision making and turnovers are what kept this one close. Allen was picked off twice in the first half, and was strip sacked and returned for a Miami score. He was also sacked a whopping seven times.

Still, Allen did throw for 352 yards and three TD’s, while Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis each went for 100+ receiving yards, and Davis added a TD for what would be the winning points. Buffalo’s odds shortened from +420 to +350.

As for Cincy, they were inches away from falling behind the Ravens in the fourth quarter, until a Tyler Huntley goal line leap ended up in Sam Hubbard’s mitts, and he rumbled 98 yards the other way for a major.

The Bengals may have now won nine straight, but the Ravens have provided the Bills with three weeks of tape in their efforts to contain Joe Burrow.

The Bengals’ QB was held  under 220 yards passing all three meetings with Baltimore this season.

Cincinnati improves slightly from +800 odds to their current +750 mark. Neither of these picks are bad bets, but Kansas City still awaits either.

Beware the Underdog G-Men

Here’s hoping you picked your underdogs prior to the playoffs, because the odds for the Giants closed in quick after pulling off a big upset.

New York went into Minnesota and upended the 13-4 Vikings, winning 31-14.

Has Daniel Jones earned himself the right to a contract extension with Big Blue? He was gangbusters Sunday, throwing for 301 yards and two TD’s, while leading the team in rushing with 78 yards. Saquon Barkley had nine carries for 53 yards and two scores, while catching five balls for 56 yards.

Their odds have been sliced in half, from +6000 to +3000, as they meet the Eagles for the third time this season in the divisional playoff, a team that’s already pounded them twice this year, outscoring them 70-38 in two games.

I don’t know about a Super Bowl bet, but I’d definitely be on an upset tip vs Philadelphia.
