Just like in game 1 of the Kings vs Oilers series, Edmonton’s two-goal edge in game 2 evaporated. Unlike the first meeting, the Oilers managed to score two more to win 4-2 to avoid going down 2-0 headed to Los Angeles.
The first two games mirrored that of the first two in round one last year, with each team splitting. Edmonton heads to LA with NHL points leader Connor McDavid only recording one assist thus far.
Heading into the series, the Oilers were heavy -220 favorites to advance to the second round. Read on for Oilers vs Kings analysis.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Analysis
In game 1, Edmonton blew a pair of two-goal leads in the third frame, only to lose in overtime. Then in game 2, they held another two-goal edge, only to see it erased in the second stanza. A resilient Oilers squad netted a pair in the final frame to split the series after two games.
Oil Country has won 15 of their last 17 tilts, with the two defeats coming in overtime. They’ve yet to receive much offense from Connor McDavid shockingly. The leading points getter has just one assist thus far.

The team benefitted from secondary scoring on Wednesday, with Derek Ryan potting a marker, and Klim Kostin netting the game-winning goal in the third period.
Edmonton has won seven of nine against playoff squads, with both losses coming past regulation. The Oilers are facing a team that has dropped seven of eight against teams with a winning percentage above .600.
Los Angeles Kings Betting Analysis
Obviously the Kings would’ve won the first two battles heading back home, but realistically, they can’t be too upset about a split. To be down two goals in both games, and earning one victory, is pretty good, considering Edmonton is the highest-scoring squad in hockey.
Los Angeles has done an excellent job at keeping Connor McDavid in check, as he has no goals on eleven shots. Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has been everything LA could’ve wanted when they acquired him by the trade deadline. He has a solid .921 save percentage in the first two games.
Joonas Korpisalo is thriving so far with the Kings (NHL rank since March 3):
• 6-3-1
• 1 shutout
• .926 Sv% (7th)
• .873 high-danger Sv% (5th)
• 2.03 GAA (4th)
• 8.0 goals saved above expected (6th)#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/kaD3KosqT4— Russell Morgan (@NHLRussell) April 11, 2023
LA has lost four of five on just one day of rest. The over is 8-1-1 in their last ten versus a team with a winning % above .600.

The Oilers defeated the Kings in the first round of last year’s postseason in seven games. They’ll aim to win games 2 and 3 like they did in last year’s battle. They’ve met six times on the campaign, with each team winning three tilts.
Oilers vs Kings Pick & Prediction
Bettors believe game one was an aberration and that Edmonton will continue to roll in game 3, with 80% of moneyline bets placed on them thus far. Our model has this Kings vs Oilers game going the road team’s way 3.92-3.64. That’s an implied win probability of 56.2%. The public has also placed 92% of bets on the under goal total hitting, with six of the last eight meetings resulting in that happening.
Edmonton is too strong of a squad, and it’s only a matter of time before McDavid goes off. He has just one assist in the series, but leads the Oilers in shots with eleven, and it’d be a surprise if he doesn’t fill the scoresheet sooner, rather than later.
Pick: Edmonton Oilers Moneyline (-140), Under 6.5 Goals (-110)
